That's looking rather good.

this looks cool. hopefully it hits PS4 since it's screaming for VR support.

Awesome to see Windows 10 mentioned specifically instead of the generic "PC". Means we can expect both Xbox One and a Windows Store release over Xbox Live. Its a good sign that MS has good games for both their next-gen platforms. I want to see more.

I'm sure this will get Rift support at some point, if not at launch.

If the game can only run on Windows 10 and can only be purchased on Windows Store, then it's not good news at all.

Yeah I'm going to agree with the poster above. Windows Store and Windows 10 exclusives are pretty lame.

It's almost funny that the other guys have less restrictive requirements for crossplay titles on the platform.

Well for one...I don't take this trailer to mean Xbox One/Windows Store exclusive at all. I take it that this trailer was simply advertising those platforms in the same way a multiplatform game might advertise for PS4 only in their trailer. Secondly, with the launch of AAA games in the Windows Store, everyone who follows wants to see if MS is going to get the traction of more AAA games and how often. Seeing this (in conjunction with other announcements) makes me believe that the Store is well on its way to getting good support from devs/pubs. Having said that, I'm sure their will be a Steam version as well...though Windows 10 is essentially tied with Windows 7 as the most used OS among its users.

As for the cross-plat comment...with titles from MS like Sea of Thieves, Killer Instinct, Gigantic, Fable Legends...as well as all the ID@Xbox games shared between the two...the other guys wont be able to compete in that space. Their approach is different. The other guys simply connect you to servers cross platform...MS is connecting you across platform and service.

Yeah. Their approach is different. They don't try to trap PC gamers into an ecosystem that they continually reject.

More people will play SFV and Rocket League on PC/PSN than all of those games.. probably combined.

I think thats one of the most common misconceptions about what MS is trying to pull off here. First we have to acknowledge a fact here...ON PC, if I want to play Valve's games, its has to be through Steam. ON PC, if I want to play EA's games, it has to be through Origin. This is already being done in this space. However, MS has their service on both console and PC (no Origin or Steam on console), so for them to want to bring gamers together and allow them to play together through that service is a no brainer. MS is simply another player on PC, they do nothing different from Valve or EA...they only ADD the ability to play with their console counterparts. I like their more holistic approach and cant wait to see more.

Fact #2...Windows Store houses tons more NON Xbox Live games then does. The Xbox App on Windows 10 also works with Steam games (and other services) to launch the games directly from the Xbox App. Recording and snap shots work as well with games from other services. I dont see this lock you're talking about. Fact is if im playing a game with someone across platforms in SFV and want to send them a friends request, I should just be able to do it. If I want to engage in a cross-game chat with that person I should be able to do it. Messages, being able to check what other games they might own, invites...all of that should just work...but it wont in SFV and it doesnt in RL. In terms of the popularity of the games...that all depends on the popularity of the games haha. SFV will be a popular title regardless if its cross platform or not. But if MS was to make MCC a cross platform title, Id suspect it would be very popular.

Lastly, people think MS is ONLY trying to appeal to the hard core "PC gamer" with the Windows Store and Xbox App...thats not so. Windows 10 is currently running on every kind of device with touch screen tablets, to all-n-1s, to desktops, to ultrabooks, to 2-n-1s...their store supports Kinect, touch, gamepad, K&M, pen and more FOR GAMING. Their store is not just one type of gamer...its for everyone. This includes the console gamer. Do you know how many people are using the Xbox App to stream their Xbox One games to their PC? Do you know how many people want to be able to take their games with them on the go on their tablet/laptop and pick up right where they left off on their Xbox.

I think you're overstating the interest gamers have in using those services on PC. I can concede that the walled-garden is less offensive if you consider Steam to be the same. That's actually part of Microsoft's problem though. There's already a very large established platform for gaming on Windows, and it's not theirs. They don't have to try to compete with it..

That's never been my impression. I don't feel like Microsoft is trying to appeal to PC gamers at all... or at least they do not know how to. Seeing Microsoft branding on a PC game is a reason for caution.

No... do you? I imagine it's not very many.

Not on PC. Cross-play makes Street Fighter on PC a much more viable option. That's why you're seeing people come over to the PC side for the first time ever. I would already own a PS4 if it weren't for cross-play in SFV. And... we don't actually know if SFV will lack the ability to communicate between platforms. How about we let them finish the game first?

Meanwhile the W10 store exclusives will probably crash and burn. The F2P stuff might have a chance.

Im not overstating anything...Im just giving you the facts. If I want to play Madden on PC, I MUST get Origin. If I want to play any Valve game on PC (they dont make too many games these days), I MUST get Steam. Comparatively, if I want to play Gears of War Ultimate, or Gigantic or possibly Halo in the future on PC, I MUST get it through the Windows Store. Exclusive or not, these games will come down to how many people want to play said games...not about what you think of the store it came from.

Regardless of how you feel, the purpose of the Windows Store is to appeal to every kind of gamer...this includes, but not limited to, hardcore PC gamers. Whats funny is that MS also supports other services too on PC so again, this lock you're talking about is pure BS from my perspective.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/261570/

While I dont have exact numbers, their are millions of people actively using the Xbox App on Windows 10. Just by reading through its over 18k reviews, with a rating of 4.3 out of 5...you can not only see that people are generally really liking it, but also that many console gamers are using the service on PC.

LOL...are you suggesting that SFV wouldnt be popular on PC if it weren't for its cross-platformfeature!?!? You are an interesting person.

I was referring to their strict control of cross-play titles, which seems to include Windows 10 store exclusivity.

Yes. There is a very (very) big difference between the SF4 population on PS3 and PC.. both in size and quality.
Commented on 2016-02-06 20:55:57
Oh see, now you are going off topic...I didn't say it would be "MORE POPULAR" than its PS4 counterpart...only that it would be popular none the less, which is correct. SF4 did over a million on PC...that makes it a popular title on PC my friend. You have no idea what the quality on PC is going to be...for all we know it could be crappy on both versions or it could be great...however, what I do know is that it wont be the holistic feature set you get from cross-play titles from MS. Steam will use Steam Achievements while PSN will use trophies...Steam will have its own friends list while PSN has its own etc. The way you message will be didderent...the way you look at someone elses games library, the actual games avalible in those libraries will be different. YOU might like that, but to me simply connecting servers in the background just to say we have cross-platform is not something that appeals to me.

Do you know what ID@Xbox is? MS is opening up their service for just about anyone to make a cross platform game. Thats not strict to me.

I'm talking about the number of people who actually play it:

https://steamdb.info/app/45760/graphs/

...which I have experience with since I actually play SF4 and SF5. Street Fighter 4 has never been very good on Steam. Ultimate has approximately the peak population (around 5000 players) that the SF5 beta did. The PSN compatibility is a big deal. And we don't know how SFV lobbies work yet at all. If we have cross-play lobbies it's pretty much feature complete. The player pool on SF4 on PC is smaller and less skilled than the console population. Cross-play is what makes SF5 on PC a viable option for even semi-serious players.

Street Fighter V gives you a unique fight ID on both platforms, which they use to sort out replays and matching and all that good stuff. Hopefully that allows you to at least create cross-play lobbies. A lot of the details about this stuff are still pretty shaky. I'm not even assuming the game launches with any lobby system. The modes trailer was suspiciously silent on the subject.

Cross-play and cross platform are not the same thing. I'm sure anyone can make a cross-play game as long as it's exclusive to the Windows 10 store. I'm not crazy about that. I don't think I'm alone. I'll still probably pick up KI though.

Steam will use Steam Achievements while PSN will use trophies
lol the horror...

Oh see, now you are going off topic...
Yeah who are we kidding we started getting off topic a while ago.

ID@Xbox supports cross-play AND cross-platform my friend with way more integration than any current cross-play title you can name between PC and PS4...

Having cross-play lobbies would NOT make it feature complete because I still cant party chat with those on the steam version from a PS4...I still cant look at my recent played with list on a PS4 and see Steam gamers...I still cant friends request Steam gamers from a PS4 and engage in a cross-game chat etc...you may want to downplay these features but thats what makes these services compelling to begin with. Steam does NOT talk to PSN...they are two different services only connecting you through servers in the background...thats it! A true cross-play/cross-platform game shares EVERYTHING and allows you to pick up where you left off hopping between the two.

This is already not true in the SFV beta... You can already look at past matches, replays, and stats from other platforms in Street Fighter V. And while I don't expect many of those features... there is a unique ID to SFV that's independent of PSN or Steam and Capcom uses it to track most of the communication within the game. They can do a lot more than just random match making with that. Steam doesn't need to talk to PSN.

You said that the other guys couldn't compete. I thought you meant in terms of delivering people what they actually want ;)

The fact that Microsoft offers more integration is precisely what I don't like :D I don't want to use Xbox Live on PC period.

Did you not see the part where it says "...and engage in a cross-game chat"? Hmmm

Right!!!! So already we see that the situation is less than ideal. Ya see I buy the game for a particular service (PSN, Steam, Live GoG, Origin etc)...I then must add an additional service to my game (in this case Capcom)...tell me again why I should have to do that? What makes it worse is that if everyone did that, we'd be running multiple services on all our games. Thanks but no thanks...if I buy the PSN version, I only want to deal with Sony and PSN...not having Sony tell me the problem isn't on their end its on Capcoms while Capcom does the same. This service on top of a service is crappy and a sub par experience. When I play the Fable Legends beta on PC, its over one service...I have ALL the features available to me...that is how I like my cross-play games.

While you might not like Xbox Live on PC, I happen to love it ( as well as the millions who currently use the Xbox App), because I love Xbox Live on Xbox One and its THE SAME XBOX LIVE ON PC! Ill take the integration any day of the week over the half baked approach in titles like RL and others.
