Xbox 360 PS3

Let's be done with our long and rather interesting (I hope) video of Far Cry 2 with parts 4 and 5. What better than to explode a fuel depot at dawn?

was the ps3 and pc version at the conferance...and if so, how did they look?

recently my interest has increased in this game... just wondering which version to get. On one hand it will probably look better on my laptop...on the other my ps3 has a bigger screen

Pc version looked of course quite a bit better, but that was to be expected. PS3 version looks on par with the 360 from what I saw.

Hey Blim, you bullet timed my meh comment about Resistance2 the other day. I've never been bullet timed and I think it's a little geeky. I gave it a meh comment because I'm sick of fps that don't do anything differently other than shoot everything you see in linear maps. This new Far Cry however is more pleasing and games like Resistance and the Halos are a far cry from this type of gameplay. No pun intended.

cheers blim,

Also, has the game always got this brown cast, it hurts the visuals in my opinion. Lots of nice detail in there, great lighting, nice frame rate...and yet everything looks washout brown

despite criticism I still think this game looks good, and ubi really do a nice job as multi plat devs nowadays.. I actually thought AC on ps3, looked great and although framerate was poor at times, still was a really impressive title...

i should love this game since its an FPS...that alone puts it above most other games for me personally...but i dont. i get the distinct impression that the game is going to end up feeling very samey...it was the main problem with mercs 2, you had all these options at your disposal, but at the end of the day it all boiled down to the same thing. and i have a feeling this will be the same. its giving you options in terms of fire propogation and weaponry, but at the end of the day, whats going to make attacking one camp different from attacking another? i hope im wrong.

So shooting everything you see in a sandbox is much better?

So, I guess my comments are no longer appropiate, while other gamers come on the site to start flame wars, I've never done so. Well anyway, I don't want to get on your bad side because you guys run one of the best gaming sites.

I can see where you are coming from, but what I mean by 'shooting everything' is that most of these fps have so much more potential. Let us be able to put the gun down for awhile and get involved with the NPCs and enviroment a little bit more instead of splitting things up with a cut-scene here and there. How about letting us search and puzzle solve just a little, but nothing too complex. I liked the way Chronicles of Riddick paced things. I just think fps need to go more in that direction. That's all. Did I explain things a little better this time?

Yes sir, omega, you did.

I think Riddick was a bit ahead of its time and fps are still catching up, even the FarCry games (Crysis included).

Omega, just because you are sick of FPS doesn't give you the right to just type "meh" and not to be expected to be boulet timed.

Funny you say that this is the best gaming site, if it is, start making quality comments, and not dumb comments you pretty much see on Gametrailers for example.

Just the simple fact that I actually see the characters hands interact with the enviroment, the steering wheel in the vehicles, the binoculars, the pda exemplifies what I was explaining. This is just awesome. I don't think it's too much to ask for. It's a buy for me.

alot of the stuff is already done in crysis, just taken a little further here. I really hope the objectives are varied...Im getting a little Assassins Creed vibe from this game. Awesome world, presentation, great mechanics, innovative design....limited mission variety. Hope Im wrong though. It has massive potential

Maybe I'm just an optimist but I don't think FC2 is going to suffer from "sameyness". Stop and think about. You basically did the same thing over and over in Oblivion but that game is fantastic. I think as long as variety in objectives and what you can do is possible, FC2 could be a surprise hit in 2008. While I have been losing enthusiasm for other games coming this year, every video I see of FC2 builds my anticipation. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint. I'm looking forward to picking people off with my sniper rifle and then when they come try to get me in their vehicles, set off the C4 I planted on them the night before and take them out quickly and cleanly before moving on to the next camp, only after I scour the wreckage for equipment.

Definite purchase, looks amazing.

Looks like the console versions will be a hell of an accomplishment with only ~512mb to work with, but I'm gonna have to go with the PC version.

It might not suffer from "sameyness," but I don't think it's too far fetched to worry that it might. I hope it doesn't. I'd love another sweet-ass, fun fps to play.

I'd just rather have lower expectations that may be surpassed instead of going all bat-shit crazy claiming that this is the game Jesus would make and possibility getting disappointed.

i'm confused. is this game going to be more demanding than crysis or what? cause i saw a few sites saying "If you thought Crysis made your computer cry, check out Far Cry 2" and shit like that. from what i seen on the system requirments of the game it looks actually less demanding. is this true or am i just blowing this out my ass?

i dont think you need to worry about that...as far as i can see the brown cast is from the weather as it was foggy during that gameplay.
This game is looking awesome
