Trailer Xbox 360 PS3

The training mode is back in Fifa 10 and this tutorial video is a chance to see some of it in action. It's also a good opportunity to brush up on your passing and shooting skills among other things. A demo of the game should be available this week, if so, we'll be happy to capture a video so all of you can see what the game looks like.

You have to remember that graphics are one of the last things EA works on with their FIFA games. It's been the case since the PS1 days.

Either way, I still think it looks better than FIFA 09.

Not a chance. Check out some of its screenshots. It may not be a really massive noticable leap over 09, but it is a noticable improvement at that. Player models are more refined as are kit and pitch textures and more drastically the lighting. Of course the other visual aspect of a football game is animation, and this imrpoves on 09 by quiet a bit.

I think what we've seen up to this point is very much more or less what we'll be seeing from the final build. Like you say, it's not a major overhaul, but still a slight one is a welcome one as the game already looks amazing from the gameplay camera view.

LOL! this is NOT Xbox360 nor PS3 pictures. It's just the PC-version of the game. Consoleversion looks wayyyy better. As someone said earlier - EA isn't focusing on the graphicspart on the PC for some unknown reason.

It's not the PC version, it is in fact a video of the PS3 version. Unless you've got some square, X, O and R2 buttons hidden somewhere on your keyboards. :P

thats the limitations of having yearly releases.. you cant expect there to be bells and whistles on the visual tweaks, sadly.
I'd much prefer EA do a simular thing that Activision do with the yearly installments of COD - have 2 seperate teams working on them, allowing 2years development time on each.

Regardless of visuals i really hope this one sorts out some of the 09 glitches.. like not getting corners, or goal kicks, at times when you should get them..something i notice messes up more and more in 09.

And i'd really love a football game to evolve where we nolonger get the delayed reaction from pressing a button moments earlier... (i'm not talking about powering up a shot's btw)

Looking at the pics taken from the vid, i can see a definate downgrade, look at the detail on the underside Ronaldinho's boots, I'm pretty sure it looked better in Fifa 09, also the grass appears to be less detailed too.

But every odd-numbered COD game is shite. I'd rather a good FIFA game each year. The improvements they make and the playtime I get out of each new version more than justify the expense.

Then the pictures are awful. Simply not showing the real face of FIFA10. But I'm not impressed by the gameplay! The physics seem to be the same and the "360dribbling"? WHERE IS IT? Still the same 8 directions :S

Yeah, whatever...

BTW, I love that you can finally perform low angle shots again. That used to be impossible in 09 with that helium-filled ball...

Try looking harder. And if you're trying to look for 360 degree dribbling when Ronaldinho is sprinting, you're looking in the wrong place - speaking from experience, it's impossible to turn at any angle when running at full-pace with the ball.

I'm sure you'll notice it when actually playing the game.

world at war is a great game.. and added to MW multi, with 4player co-op throughout the campaign. And added a great little extra in the zombie mode.
Cod3's multiplayer was a step up from cod2's too... and the fact that cod3 hit before MW ment that more time was spent on MW - which is why its so good. Likewise, regardless of you believing W@W is shit it still allowed more time to be invested in developing MW2 - which you'll no doubt end up liking.

2yr development cycles will always bring more quality than 1yr development cycles. Thats just common sense.

I've always supported the notion of a two-year development cycle for football - and sport in general - games, with free transfer and kit updates to fill the gap in between. If EA/Konami is worried about losing so much money as a result - which they probably would in fairness - then they could release exciting DLC (e.g. a new game mode/feature) for a reasonable price in order to recoup some of that loss.

Reading comments on internet forums can drive you nuts at times. Just try reading the official EA Fifa forums. Full of retards. Apparantly the game is a let down before it's even on the shelves because - I shit you not - the ball bounces. Ah-hum! That's the pearls of wisdom from some folk over on those boards.

As for someone not being able to spot 360 dribbling, well it's obvious that it's something that has to be felt rather than seen, even though it's obvious that it can still be seen, but whatever like. Oh, and a graphical downgrade? Seriously, use your brain. Why Would they downgrade the graphics on purpose? It's upgraded. EVERYTHING in this game is upgraded, down to the net physics to the ball and actual physics themselves. NOTHING in this game is the same as 09. Just wait for the demo.

Personally 1 year dev cycles are not an issue for a football sim so long as they tweak the game enough to make it feel like an entirely new experience, much like the old PES games did. Graphics can wait, so long as the gameplay gets refined.

One of my main gripes with Fifa is that its far to easy to score. I can score 1 on 1s almost any time with ANY player regardless of the stats. Try the same in pro evo and its a completely different story.

Also, i dont like how every player feels the same, theres just not enough emphasis on individualism.

This is one of the first things EA addressed for FIFA 10, so you should no longer have any problems with that in the next game (I agree, by the way).

True, and this has always been Pro Evo's strongest point - although it hasn't been quite as remarkable in recent years. EA is getting a bit better at making certain individuals stand out though, such as Ronaldo and Drogba.

I've never found it easy to score in 09 on anything past world class difficulty. I play on legendary and it's rock hard. It's actually a good thing that it's simple enough to score in 1-1 situations, because negotiating the defence is a bit of a nightmare.

I'd confidently cite that Fifa 09 is to this date the most realistic football game ever created, but it had it's flaws, naturally. The biggest being that key players were often too strong and far too hard to contain. Get the ball with grass to push into with a high line defence with Torres and it will almost certainly result in a 40-yard run with a goal at the end. The core for greatness was there, but all EA have done with '10 is take that roughness and polish it into a gleaming diamond of which it will take substantial playtime to see it's minor flaws I'm sure. Looks like we're getting the old PES rawness back, only it's not PES. Now that's irony for you.

As for that individualsm people go on about, I do believe Fifa does now have it, only it's kept to a select minor few in the game. Ronaldo has his trademark stance taking free kicks, and Dudek can do his shuffle on the line when saving pens (push one of the sticks down). The only thing stamping it out was the often floaty nature of the shots, not that it was impossible to score some rockets, but the ball often took off then ballooned. Frustrating. For me, that individualsm in PES was always down to the stats and nothing more. I always felt that in Fifa 09, player AI lent a hand in giving sense of indivualsm. I loved how players like Gerrard actively made space and came seeking the ball, but things like his passing and running felt generic. EA just need to work on a few little things and there will be nothing left to gripe about.

If anything, I'd say PES is guilty of perfect shots almost every time rather than Fifa. It was hard enough to even hit the target in 09 outside the box with a strike nevermind scoring with one. One other thing that Fifa has done better than PES in the past 3-4 years is the manual aspects of the play, especially the passing. PES is now in danger of becoming a linear on rails experience. Every pass seems to be attached to a string going straight to the players foot without fail. I find it rediculous that people fail to see the tecnical advancements that Fifa now has over its rival while continually trying to bash it for it based on past merrits. Fact is, these technical advancements it has is giving it a far more realistic aspect than PES ever did. It's name is Fifa, yes, but try and get over that. Fifa 10 will be only my second Fifa game I've ever bought in 16 years, so...
