PS3

Japanese magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump reveals new screenies from role-playing games Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. It is possible to distinguish some summons like Ifrit and Shiva Siren, at least if you use common sense.

Update: added a few V-Jump scans

Sorry to tarnish your common sense, but that is not Shiva, that is siren apparently, carbuncle is the green guy, ifrit is obvious mind. There are more scans at NeoGaf. Shiva is the bicycle remember?

Anyway, if any of the scans I've seen today are real time, this is going to be mighty impressive.

Final Fantasy games have always nailed their visuals. It's whether the game has any soul that let's the most recent iterations down for me.

Since when have Final Fantasy games NOT looked impressive? As for the "soul" thing, the only FF after 6 to have it is 9, so I don't know see how this can be any worse than 7, 8, 10 etc. (all good games regardless)

I really stopped caring what happened to the characters and plot after the first disc in 9.

Those real-time screens look a lot like Mass Effect, with slightly more detail. But I wonder how the game will look while walking around the environments, or in terms of NPCs and animation.

cant wait...

doesnt actually look anything like ME to me...that section wasnt up and running on ps3 yet...it was made before the engine was up and running on ps3. If it looks like that, graphically it is much more impressive than ME

Looks pretty good. Just a shame we won't be this until 2009 at the earliest. Makes me wonder why they even bothered to show this game off so early on when it's so far away... :/

kinda strange if that would be siren either way.. that picture looks as though it was a real human being.. perhaps its neither and its a friend of one of the characters in the game :)
