Xbox 360

Sega is releasing the Xbox 360 port of Universe at War: Earth Assault this week in both Europe and USA, and here is the introduction of the game. I have always enjoyed good strategy games, and while the PC version did not get the best scores I still have enjoyed the game so far!

I have yet to really get into the big campaign of gathering resources and the standard strategy features, the video below show the first mission where you mostly just attack the enemy without having to think about anything.

From what I have played so far, the controls works. This seems to be the biggest issue with strategy games on consoles, as you do not have the option to use mouse and keyboard. You can with a simple click on X mark all units on screen, and you can use the right bumper to change between different unit groups, squads (that you can create by yourself) and heroes. You use the right trigger to bring up the map and move quickly through the battlefield, while the left trigger lets you use the different special abilities your heroes have.

The graphics isn't mind-blowing, but the engine gets the work done. There has not been any slowdowns yet, but there can be some framedrops when you move through the battlefield. The game will have a Xbox Live mode that lets you play cross-platform against PC users, which will be an interesting feature when the patch activating this is released.

I have enjoyed the game so far, which was a surprise to me as I barely played more than the first missions in Tiberium Wars. The developers seem to have managed to create controls that works, and I cross my fingers that the rest of the game can keep it up.
Let me bring to your attention that I had an error during the capturing, which created a loss of 2 seconds of the intro video for the mission. I tried to replay it, but with no luck. Sorry about that!

What happened to the HD 10 minute ones? Is it because of the issues with downloads or something? >.<

No, I simply don't have a HD capture card. And I've just happened to do the latest ones. I'm getting a HD card *really* soon though, so with some luck, it will be all HD starting next week.
The ones I'm doing now is quite high quality to be SD though, it's a component card and not composite.

Souns nice that they managed to actually get controls that work well on a console :)
But again, you gotta ask yourself why. Why choose the console version of an RTS game? :P
I guess if your computer sucks, but yeah :) I dont know what im saying :)

I haven't chosen anything. ;) I see where you are going though, I actually think the same. But still, I gotta give the games a shot, and I mean... didn't we feel the same about FPS?
Some of the stuff here works really well, I don't feel handicapped by the stuff at all. It's easy to move them around. I can see it being a problem later on though, when I have like a hundred units to move, but I don't see how that ever can be fixed.
Company of Heroes would be great on consoles, as there are so few units.

For someone who has played this game and C&C3 on the 360, which game controls better?

I have C&C3 TW and KW and have played TW on 360 too, to be honest I think it would be fine for casual gameplay but I found it difficult to micro units like on the PC.

To be honest real time strats are easier to use on PCs rather than consoles.
