Video Xbox 360

Second stage of our Forza Motorsport 3 week, no less than a two minutes long replay on the famous 24H du Mans track. Unlike the mountain lap we released last monday, this video is not at sixty frames per second. The reason is good and simple. In Forza Motorsport 3 as in Gran Turismo 5 (but not as in Gran Turismo PSP), replays are only running at thirty frames per second. If you miss the thrill of high speed animation you'll have to wait until next friday for our third and last Forza Motorsport 3 gameplay video from Cannes'IDEF. A full 24H du Mans event at sixty frames per second.

The replays system is a ton more cinematic. Great!
some pop-up of shadows here and there, but the sense of speed and vertigo in some scenes are just PERFECT.

I'll add that this build is the one that was showcased during that Le Mans event, just after E3.

Thank god for gamersyde. It's funny how your site puts out more, and better, videos than the actual developer's site. Thanks!

Damage models seem to have improved, very nice. Although I'd still say the replays are kinda crappy. Not as bad as In FM2 but they don't seem to put much work into them (some show pretty ugly off-track places)... oh well, really don't care much about it as long as the game play is great and the graphics while driving.

Mmm, i have to agree somewhat, this is the first F3 vid that i think has disappointed. The track seems very cartoonish, im not sure if its just the low poly stuff (the roadside area with the mini and ambulance), some of the low res textures (the signposts etc) or the cartoony look of the grass and gravel. Maybe its actually the fact its super bright and everything combined gives it a bit of a funny look, maybe its the fact its offscreen and has lost some of its shine.

Either way, a disappointing showcase that i hope they can improve by release.

Not quite as impressive as the fantasy Camino Viejo track, I was quite impressed with the SeBull vid of LeMans, but that was a bit more saturated and had higher contrast..
I'll wait for the 60fps of this, but if it's the same camera etc, I'm not so sure it's gonna look as stunning as the other 60fps ones..
Still, nice Job guys, this site seems to be the one they all copy and fail!

yeah camino viejo looks much more impressive. The other video in-game of lemans too... This video looks alot like Forza 2 with better camera angles.

I hope for more improvements in this track...

I still dont understand how people can possibly call this "cartoony".

This is cartoony.

It's the bright oversaturated colours and general lack of detail in things that should have detail, especially when the camera spends a reasonable amount of time pointing at it. Cartoony, cell shaded like, whatever you want to call it. Theres just something about the overall package on this track in combination with the off screen footage that makes it look considerably less than real.

Don't get me wrong, i know F3 can do much better, ive been seriously impressed with everything up till now and have repeatedly gushed over the improvements. This track though falls SO far below the bar that the only way to describe it is to say its cartoony.

That being said, at least the flags have a bit more life, look like theyre competing with GT in that department now aswell.

Do the people complaining about oversaturation actually realise that this vid is taken off-screen??

Replay views look great this time round, one thing that was definitely lacking in Forza 2. Track detail looks brilliant too, loving the bumps in the road.

They dont seem to realise that its not the finished build and its filmed by a camera pointing at a screen no.

One thing i would like to see alot more of is the helmet cam view...which was something that was definatly sorely lacking from F2.

I'd also like to see more on how its design editors been improved..as thats always been part of Forza's A game.

Wow, this replay definitely doesn't carry the same wow factor as what we've seen before. So in terms of graphics, something was off in there, but in general it all points to the track being the problem, which would include the flat lighting and some of the vegetation (including trees).

On a very positive notes, the replays are watchable. This is a huge deal, I couldn't stand the FM2 replays. Huge improvement, yet it isn't a PGR4, GT, or GRID.

On another very good positive is the way the car moved around the track. The suspension work was pretty damn good. There wasn't a moment where the suspension wasn't moving, and that's a great thing. It shows some work on the physics, and track detail.

There was a few times that I pressed pause on that video and one could be forgiven for mistaking it as an actual photograph. Now, for the claims of it being "cartoonish": it's an opinion, yes; but it's also a very warped one if you ask me. Mario Galaxy - now that was cartoonish, though the same people would probably look at it and say it's the most realistic looking thing they ever saw in a game.

I've now seen the movie a fair amount of times, and at first I was abit dissapointed by the looks of FM3 here.

However, if you take the bits of footage out which is seen through a vertically raised camera, you are left with some really nice imagery. The starting area bit is really nice forexample. The footage were we go alongside the peugeot on the Mulzane straight is very impressive. And the lighting on the cars before the dunop bridges, AND coming down the bends after the Dunlop bridge is also highly impressive.

The places where it breaks is when you are in helicopter view and see areas of the track that you wouldn't normally see in normal car ride height. I would also love to see some more color variation in the trees and foilage.

Nice vid. I would love to see a incar view only movie of this session. I bet that was looking awesome.

Oh, and as someone has already pointed out, it's from an off screen cam, so brightness and saturation are not accurate one bit. And if by some chance it is like this in the final retail build once it goes gold, then you cartoon haters have the lovely little luxery of having a contrast, brightness, and colour settings on your lovely HD TV's to tinker with should you find something a little too "garish" for your pallet.
