Four cars of SEGA Rally

Four cars of SEGA Rally

The racing game Sega Rally shines today with four batches of images for the Mitsubishi Concept-X, McRae Enduro, RUF Rt 12 and Hummer cars. The mud effects are well done, too.

oh my, they went a little overboard with the mud thing didn't they?
It feels like the car went through a puddle of...chocolate!

The game is so arcade I dont think I would really enjoy it at home. Racing games that cant mask well the fact that the track is the one that moves and not the car itself make me mad for some reason.

What? The track moves not the car? Has any game EVER done that?

Mathematically it's easier to move the cars around the track than the track around the car. Also, if you have more than one car on the track (like this game) what would be the point in moving the track and a bunch of other cars, while keeping one car stationary?

The game does have one real flaw in this way though, you can't go off the track at all in this game, which used to be the norm, but I can't think of many games like that anymore.

Wasn't that done from Saturn down to NES? , aren't racing games from Dreamcast to today different , the car now moves and the track stays still?

I've never heard that done in a fully polygonal game. But it certainly happened on stuff like NES, SNES, Genesis, and so forth.

I quite honestly don't understand what people see in this. I always thought it looked cheezy and well...what more is there to go on? That the original sega rally in like...97 was super awesome? Is it even the same team making the game?

Sega rally my ass, give me Rallisport 3 already :P

What's up with you people? Yeah, this game is an arcade racer. Is there really nobody who's happy about a new one? I am. Can't wait for this game, a very nice alternation to all the other racers. The grafx are hot. Cool cars. Hope Celica, Delta and Stratos will also return. This game will be 100% FUN!!!!

Why don't they call it Mud Rally? Or Most Arcade Style Boring Rally Game Ever.

I like the diarrhea style mud, nice to see Sega embracing the tubgirl aesthetic :). So this game is no PGR4 graphically but it's got a trump up its sleeve: mud deformation that influences gameplay. That's an innovation that could provide extreme levels of fun, if they nail the handling and other aspects. Bring it on!

About the game

What's up?
  • Tiz
Tiz @GriftGFX: I think MS were in full on panic mode because they wanted to add value to their box, so they showed everything. (2 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Yeah they just need to actually implement some of that stuff. They're charting an interesting path. I feel like they showed this game off before they knew what it was. (2 Hours ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz For instance, in Destiny, the whole point of getting loot is to get better equipped to do raids for better equipment to do raids for better equipment and sometimes Iron Banner. (2 Hours ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz @GriftGFX: It really depends how they approach it. If you can upgrade your ship, crew etc to navigate more dangerous parts of the sea then it will be a dangling carrot scenario. (2 Hours ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz Also, like the Division you have to cash in the loot before people steal it for themselves. The Division ran into the problem of just allowing anyone in the instances. (2 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX And like.. what's the purpose of the loot itself. (2 Hours ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz @GriftGFX: I feel like what the loot is will determine the way people play. Will there be the standard common to Legendary loot? Will some loot be harder to navigate to, if so, will it be worth it? (2 Hours ago)
