Much nicer looking than Borderlands 1. I think it will benefit greatly from having the art style from the start of development. The original game had a totally different art style until the last 6 months of development, when they modified some shaders and some textures to get it's final look.

Yeah, I remember when the visuals looked incredibly dull and interest for the game was at a real low point. Fair play to them for taking such a risk by drastically altering the visual style mid-development to give it more of a distint look.
You're definitely right though; the fact that they're sure of where they want to take this game right from the off will definitely benefit it.
