Gears of War 3 homemade videos

Microsoft sent us our copy of Gears of War 3 just in time for the end of the game's embargo, so here are a bunch of videos showing the beginning of the campaign mode. If you absolutely want to discover everything by yourself, we advise you stay away from them, though there are no real spoilers to be seen.

The reviews are out. HUGE, HUGE game just as everyone was expecting after the excellent beta. Not going to watch any videos. Five more days! :D

I've finished the game (I'm reviewing games) and there're some parts of the game that's just stunning. Best console graphics I've seen alongside Uncharted 2. :)

For some reason I have the exact same feeling as when Gears 2 came out: it's going to be more of the same. I was not going to buy it until KornDog convinced me that Gears 2 is much better than Gears 1. And he was right. But now again, I need convincing because again I think it's going to be more of the same. Yes the reviews are good (though some of them mention that it misses the sparkle of the second game and is only as good as the second, but that it is because the bar was set very high).
I have a love/hate relation with Gears. I don't want to play it, but when I play it, I can't stop.

@droezelke:
- solid campaign with up to 4 players
- Beast mode with up to 5 players
- Horde 2.0 with huge improvements - bosses, tower defence elements etc...again with up to 5 players
- 100 times better multiplayer than previous games, this time with dedicated servers.

Holy shit, is that not enough to make you buy this game? 0____0

What do you mean with 'just fun'? And what do you mean with 'some parts'?

@Seth: I only care for the SP as I refuse to pay for Live Gold.

For a GEARS game??? damn gonna have to pick this up!!

But the real triumph is the campaign, a masterpiece of exciting gameplay and emotional storytelling that stands head and shoulders above its predecessors. Even if you don't remember where you were on Emergence Day, this is one adventure you won't soon forget.

As the campaign progresses, different characters, environments, and situations intertwine to further flesh out your emotional investment in this world. Gears of War 3 delivers some truly poignant moments and boasts some of the best storytelling ever seen in a shooter, complemented by great facial animation, an expressive soundtrack, and excellent pacing.

Why is there still this " I don't pay for Gold"-attitude?
You get the best online experience/service out there for just a few bucks.
If I buy 12months on ebay (Germany), it's just 3Euros per month.
Most of the people I know that moan about Gold are the ones who spend 50-100Euros every weekend at the club...
Gears 3 and the party service alone warrants it but there is so much more fun to be had with Halo,Forza etc.

Sure, it's up to you what you're willing to pay for and what not but you're missing a lot if you'Re only playing SP...

People still believe, and rightfully so, online play should be free.

Why should people pay to play, I mean its not an MMO.
PC is free, PS3 is free, and yet, they work just fine...with PS3 lacking a bit behind and PC still has the best online experience/service out there.

I personally would never pay to play for online, ever.
I rather save those money and get a new game instead than paying for online to keep playing the same game, or just get DLC instead or just do something non-gaming with them.

Those who like it, go for it, but many dont.

So yes, the "attitude" will always be there no matter what.

Not exactly playing this for the story. So I'm watching these, I mean what can be spoiled :).

I refuse to pay for something that should be free. And online play should be free. On PC and PS3 it has always been free. Microsoft tried to make it otherwise with Games For Windows Live, but it failed miserabbly because PC-gamers will never pay to play online.

visually this all looks TONS better then the MP stuff. looking forward to playing it in co-op. hope i can rent it close to release. would be pretty shite if i had to wait.

I refuse to pay for something that should be free.
I did gripe at first about having to pay but I now see it in the same boat as DLC, why should we get it free? Because other people offer it free? That's a pretty weak argument. Try seeing it from their point of view, they are providing a service, is it so wrong to ask for money to keep that service running?

Its the same thing with DLC, if they give it away free then great! But if they ask for money for it to pay their staff and make a return on their investment I can't begrudge them that. It just becomes an exercise in whether or not I feel something is priced to a value that I agree with.

On topic

Might pick this up now as soon as it hits, wasn't going to at first but it looks like I may be needing this to get me through until Rage hits in October.

Pc-gamers also love downloading indie games for free. *runs away*

Sure I get your point but xbox live is a super, well-functioning service with so many features that I have no problem spending 3euro a month.
In my opinion psn isn't even close but mabe that's just me. On PC(some years ago), you had to pay if you wanted to team chat during games...
Sure, now it's 2011 and the online experience could/should be free but as long as MS cares that good for it's service I'm willing to spend one beer a month. ;-)

btt:

Gears 3 looks amazing and according to some of the reviews it play a lot better, more fluid than before. I'm really excited because I didn't play the beta. 5more days and it will be mine ;-)

it isnt that other people offer it for free....it's that EVERYONE offers it for free. MS's methods arnt the norm...but for some weird reason people have accepted them as such. boggles the mind. but then they're stuck between paying or not having access to half of the game they just bought...they dont exactly have a choice in the matter. it's kinda like the ISP in my area, they run a monopoly, and there is NO competition. they charge a lot and they are generally pretty shit speed wise. but it's either pay them or have no internet access. it's a shitty situation, but what choice do i have?

About the game

What's up?
  • asdfg
asdfg I liked Geoffs speech. For once something actually felt real at the otherwise so corporate TGA. (8 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Moonwalker: as i said, they're friends. not just "we see each other once ever 5 years at an award show" "friends". but actual friends. things were obviously going to be personal. (1 Hour ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker @KORNdog: Nothing with calling the company out but we had that last year already. And showing Hideo respect is cool but I thought this was way too much. (1 Hour ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog back to geoff though, i honestly appreciated seeing some emotion come from those cold, dead mountain dew sponsored eyes. the guy is a lifeless husk most of the time. (1 Hour ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog "Dreamfall Chapters will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both physically and digitally for $29.99 / €29,99 / £24,99 via publisher Deep Silver on March 24, 2017" finally! (2 Hours ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Moonwalker: i think they've been friends for years. when you have a stage, why not use it to call out a company and their BS? (2 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker @Tiz: Agreed. (2 Hours ago)
