SAN FRANCISCO – January 12, 2017 – Today, Ubisoft announced a collaboration with Amazon and Twitch to create a 30-minute, original, live-action promotional video set in the world of the upcoming open world action-adventure game, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. Scheduled to premiere on February 16, 2017, War Within The Cartel will spotlight the Santa Blanca cartel, a ruthless group that has turned Bolivia into a narco-state. War Within The Cartel will be streamed on Ubisoft’s Twitch channel (www.twitch.tv/Ubisoft) and will be immediately available on demand via Amazon Prime Video following the premiere.
War Within the Cartel takes viewers inside the inner workings of the Santa Blanca drug cartel, controlled by the revered yet ruthless leader, El Sueño. In the aftermath of an attack on their compound, the organization's senior leadership (Head of Security - El Muro, Head of Production - El Yayo, Head of Operations - Nidia Flores and Head of Influence - El Cardenal) seeks out a traitor within their midst to exact deadly retribution. The action packed story culminates in the events leading up to the beginning of the game as an elite Special Forces unit, the Ghosts, is called in to dismantle the cartel. War Within The Cartel is produced by Los Angeles-based digital studio, Legion of Creatives, and features Grammy winner, entrepreneur, actor and hip hop legend, Tip “T.I.” Harris playing the role of Marcus, one of the members of the Santa Blanca cartel.
“Ubisoft is committed to providing top-tier entertainment across the board, in games, movies and other media,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Ubisoft. “War Within The Cartel adds even more depth to the already expansive world of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands and we are very excited to be working with Amazon, Twitch and Legion of Creatives on this project.”
In order to ensure that War Within The Cartel conveys an exceptional degree of realism, Legion of Creatives brought multiple experts to the table, including military specialists and aviation experts.
“Drug cartels have become an incredibly hot topic in both real-world news and pop culture entertainment. We pride ourselves in making sure that the characters, action and environment of War Within The Cartel looks and feels like something ripped right from the headlines,” said Executive Producer Roberto Orci.
War Within The Cartel is directed by Avi Youbian (The Walking Dead, Tainted Love) from a script by Evan Greene, Noam Dromi (Dolphin Tale) and Ryan Landels (Jem and the Holograms). The project is produced by Steve Ecclesine, Avi Youabian. Ryan Landels, and Alex Barkaloff. Executive Producers are Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers and The Amazing Spiderman), Orlando Jones (Madiba, American Gods), Noam Dromi and Jay Williams.
Ubisoft also announced its collaboration with famed illustrator and designer, Ken Taylor to curate the artistic voice of War Within The Cartel. Taylor’s artwork will be featured on the Steelbook for the Amazon-exclusive* Ghost Recon Wildlands: War Within The Cartel bundle. The bundle also includes the Gold Edition version with Season Pass subscription and a 10.5” recreation of the in-game Santa Muerte figurine.

She's gotta have it on Netflix: nope, I don't get it. Must be because I'm white. I'm not kidding. (10 Hours ago)
But for games like OW is not an issue. Funny thing is most people who complain about OW having lootboxes dont even own a copy of OW or play the game. Don't even play MP games in general. (11 Hours ago)
Nobody is saying to not condemned EA for what they did. Yeah they did really bad, and they should get punish by it. They are getting punish by the market already. (11 Hours ago)
Cosmetic lootboxes on overwatch doesnt affect the gameplay at all, and if you play the game enough you get those stuff for free anyways. You really dont have to grind that much tbh. (11 Hours ago)
Say welcome to seasson passes, split comunity, having to pay more than $60 for the game to get all the maps or heroes I want, so yeah I will take lootboxes on Overwatch over having to buy a season pas (11 Hours ago)
If you remove lootboxes for cosmetic stuff that doesn't affect gameplay at all on Overwatch, them forget about getting free maps, free new heroes, free content in general. (11 Hours ago)
@KORNdog: Agreed. They're in on it too, so fuck em. (12 Hours ago)
