Nothing special, as usual.

God of War combat is the same copy and paste with super minor changes across all games.
They seriously need to get rid of Kratos now and bring a brand new character and some brand new combat system to keep up with Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden 2.

I highly doubt I will get this since I dont see anything new, and co op looks boring to me.

I already pre-ordered it! But I hope Sony gives this series a rest after this game.

Not sure it needs a rest it just has to be a much better product than 3, if 3 was amazing we would all be wanting more.

If they do that, i'd rather they give it a new name while they're at it...because it certainly wont be god of war anymore.

Yep same old same old, when i heard prequel i got excited and thought there would be some fresh and new combat, but its the same hack n slash borefest as before.

I don't find the combat in this games boring, maybe if you are mashing without purpose only to beat enemies then yeah it could get boring, if I found out playing GoW3 that some skill is still required, the better I get the more I enjoy the combat, sure is not as deep as say Bayonetta but it gets the job done.

The scale and epicness and graphics are unmatched though for this type of game.

I've played it since GOW1 and nothing has changed combatwise all these years later, so i was excited when i heard prequel, something fresh i thought but its the same old thing and i tire of it, so i'll pass.

How long since you played those games?

I played them when they came out only, maybe thats why I find this one still awesome.

You can't change it too much because it would lose its identity, GoW games has a particular type of combat that some like it and some don't.

I like it very much :D

Agreed 100%. Keeping the release dates far apart keeps the series feeling fresh. I played and beat all the GoW titles exactly when they came out and I never really got the same old, same old feel ever!

But after 5 games, Greek mythology has been maxed out...time to switch it up. I loved to see Sony Santa Monica take on Norse mythology and make a proper Too Human game, show Dyack how it's really done!

But they are working on a FPS game for PS4 now, I hope they rip everything possible from Halo. A Halo like game for PS4 along with KZ4 would be amazing.

@Fabreeze; Agree you dont have to change the combat template to freshen things up in combat, but this is indeed the same old.. def pass for me.

Make a new IP in the Norse myth since thats much more interesting and "untapped" in gaming since greek myth is making me throw up since there is so much greek/rome nonsense in media these days.

I played God of War 2, and 2 of the PSP games and God of War 3, seen GoW1 and this one, nothing overhaul has been done whatsoever other than some minor animation changes here and there.

IMO if they dont want to change the combat, change the damn character since Kratos's story is done after 3, there is no reason to milk it.
They can easily make a new character, with spear and sword type of combat but much faster combat, just like how Darksider's War is compared to Death.

In the end, I am not saying God of War is boring or anything, i like it quite alot and combat is good and fun.
But this new one is nothing special for me to get it when I have God of War 3 because the combat isnt anything new.
Who knows, might get it when its cheap or a demo shows up and that changes my mind, but so far, nope.

god yes!i hope SK dont have the rights to Too Human..i dont even think they could make a playable app on facebook at this point. But i loved Too Human as i managed to see beyond its obvious flaws and theres a really decent fluid combat system there, and a constantly interesting loot mechanic. I'd love to see a polished Too Human 2 to GoW's standard as Norse Mythology still feels slightly fresher.

God of War used to kick ass..let your Jaw drop when you saw a trailer or the gameplay demo, but this...is a Major let down !

Looks Boring to me...uninspired ! And thats a real shame !!!!
Sony should put some people behind who really have the passion and love for GOW,and know what they are doing !

Idiots, first get rid of Jaffe and then Corey..and now..who is even the Director ?
Game has no face at all !!! And from the footage it seems more like a PSP title so far !

Just hope it proves to be better then how it feels right now !
Want a good GOW game !

iosomewhere, how does that look like a psp title.

3 was epic, this looks like it will be as well.

DAY 1 for me.

Six games and he's still wearing the same outfit. I thought that making this a prequel would change something. It's just getting old.

Pretty sure his "outfit" was explained in GoW2?! The two red streaks on his chest are for killing his family (so he can look at himself in shame) and the white paint was also explained as well...Also, he had a different outfit in God of War 2, at least initially.

I like Morpheus and Dominius outfits in God of War 3, the DLCs, they look badass.
And then the full on armor in God of War 2.

Unfortunately, still not seeing anything to get me interested. I really like the setting and story, and the graphics are great, but I just can't get over the dated feel of the gameplay. Maybe it is just a genre thing (never was a fan of the hack n slash and QTE gameplay).

That being said, I just don't see how they could change the gameplay up with these titles and not lose the identity. I'm glad they are keeping them the same for the people who love these games. The only thing I could see them doing that would get me interested, and keep the core gameplay, would be to add more dynamics to the combat.

Things like more moves and weapons obviously would be good, as would more dynamic boss battles and less scripted QTEs. I'm thinking something like real time damage modeling on the big bosses resulting from every hit, and being able to move around the environment more and actually jump on the backs of large enemies and attack them (rather than press x and watch cut scene). I also think it would be great to have some environmental destruction where you could pull pillars and temples down on top of enemies and change the battlefield where you are fighting. Anything that makes the game more interactive and dynamic would be good in my book.

I'm glad to see Too Human has it's supporters too. It was rough in places but i enjoyed the clunky combat more than i thought- there was some depth at least to this. It has quite a unique feel and is far from a dreadful game providing do look past some of it's quibbles

Great game. They certainly run short of gods to kill. :-) Cant wait to chop more of these bastards. Brutality at its best.

If they get rid of the character and totally change the combat, it should just be a new IP...
