Developer Diary Xbox 360

With the beta announced for may, Bungie starts to show us more of Halo Reach through this first ViDoc insisting on the team's desire to come back to Halo CE's spirit. Many will agree that returning to the roots of what made the series' success is clearly the way to go.

Just watched it on live and I must say I'm pretty impressed by all the ideas I saw. I'm also impressed by how many different stages of the alpha build bungie was willing to show. By the end of the video though those gameplay segments started to look really damn good, especially for a Bungie game.

Considering all the ideas being presented, if Bungie delivers on even most of them then this should finally be the game to live up to the crazy high standard set by combat evolved.

Can't wait to try out the beta.

i was impressed by just how fast the combat looked.

Sure, there are still prettier fps games out there..but very few of them match the same scale, and fewer still add to that scale with 4 player co-op throughout.

Exactly. Having the scale in mind, Reach is indeed pretty impressive. I love the new art-style. Finally looks sort of grown up.

Damn, I am allready hyped again....beeing hyped so early allways ends up with a disappointment!

Weight in scale, color palette, open world nature, advanced A.I., real time pshysics plus visuals and animations like these and this is probably one of (if not the most) technically impressive games in production. No game I can think of combines all those assets with such results.

I'm very impressed. Bravo for Bungie.

P.D. Maybe it's time for those calling previous screens "Bullshots" to give credit where it's due. This includes news posters.

So... after three games they finally understand what made Halo: Combat Evolved good. Lol.

Have missed the feel of exploration, of being lonely on undiscovered planets, in all Halo games that has been released after Halo 1 (even if Halo 3 had some very nice environments..) I can't understand how so many Halo fans actually liked Halo: ODST (seriously - it was a fu*king joke)... it didn't have the core elements that made Halo what it was.

But as they say in this diary, they want to get back to that feeling (like the first steps on the planet in Combat Evolved). So I must say I more excited then I ever thought I would be of a Halo game again..

whoa, i have to admit this looks pretty awesome, now all the graphics whores who always complain about Halo 3 and ODST looking rubbish can suck on it, i'm very curious about the gameplay though, i'm sooo glad I have access to the beta it's gonna be great fun taking the fight to the elites again, i got kinda sick of fighting against brutes..

Technically most impressive will be Crysis 2. But to me it's not the graphics that make me exited, it's the way Bungie talks about the game. It's like they found the love for their own franchise again.
We haven't seen Crysis 2 in motion and we already know the bad track of lack of optimization Crytek has. I'm not saying they can't pull it off but right now, Halo Reach is the one that has me more impressed as a whole.

I'm very impressed. It looks like Halo has finally gotten next-gen with its tech.
The new weapons we got to see also looked impressive and balanced.

I agree that Crysis 2 will probably be the best looking console game to date when it arrives. That being said, Cryteck doesn't have a very good track record when it comes to multiplayer so I never get nearly as hyped for their games as others seem to.

Campaigns are fun and all, but a truly awesome MP (which Reach will no doubt destroy this category) is what makes an FPS truly fun and long lasting.

Unless said shooter has some amazing co-op options.

Holy cow, it looks sooooo much better in motion than in screen shots. I'm glad that they finally gave in and put some motion blur in there. I know some people hate it, but I think it adds a lot to it. Two thumbs up from me.

Taking us back to the magic of Halo CE can only mean great things! Its definetly the best graphics for the 360 so far and its still in alpha! The gameplay, AI, NPCs etc all sound too good.

Nice ViDoc. Going back to Combat Evolved is a good thing. And original Halo looked pretty good in this.

Hopefully that Noble Team is not all that there is. I would like to feel more like a hero than part of a team.
