The problem with all this current gen on-rail shooters that doesnt gel with me at all, is that they're no longer point and shoot. They're more like moving a curser over something and then clicking on it. I dunno if they could fake the feeling of a light gun simply by removing the cross-hair, but it feels shit either way.
house of the dead is the definition of cheesy, though not TPS.
I don't see a problem with the idea.

Actually, Sega already did it with Zombie Revenge, on the DC.
That was a terrible execution though... they could come back and make a better game with dialog that is just as bad as ZR.

Same could be said for FPS, first time I even thought that was after playing Halo Reach, it's not a bad game far from it, it moves and plays very well especially when you compare it with black ops but theres just something missing.
And now 2011 is the year of modernday warfare Zzzzzz

Seriously, people have a really skewed view of what the older machines looked like. While this doesn't look like MW3/BF3/Crysis2, it most certainly COULD NOT have been done on a PS2 or even X-Box (which was more powerful than a PS2).
Now, OT:
I really want to like this, I loved HotD in the arcades and on my Dreamcast, but yeah... the whole rail-shooter thing is getting long in the tooth, when you've got full-control FPS's like Left for Dead, Dead Island and lord knows what else.
The last great rail-shooter I played was Dead Space Extraction. Great game, great camera work, great atmosphere and great graphics, for the machine (Wii). I don't know if it gets any better than that, though.
