PC PS2 PSP

Eidos just released the first screennshot of Tomb Raider: Anniversary. The game will be a remake of the first Tomb Raider and will benefit from the advances of Tomb Raider Legend. Concerning the levels, it will feature the best moments of Tomb Raider 1, as well as brand new levels. Release date planned somewhere in 2007, only on PC, PS2 and PSP for the moment.

I would LOVE it if they released that on Xbox 360. TR1 was one of my all time favorite games! Every Thanksgiving I remember playing the level where you fall into the Sphinx's mouth (?) and end up in the cavern full of water! I don't know the level's name anymore, but the memory of playing that on Turkey day all those years ago really sticks with me. I'd LOVE to see that exact game upgraded to the TRL level with new stuff. That would rock. Or! Even if they just realeased the original in all it's pointy glory on XBLA!

They Should release both 1,2 & 3 in one package, no way I would
pay full price for an ancient game...

(that is if it come to the 360)

The first Tomb Raider was the best of all of them. Although the latter levels were a bit more repetitive, most were excellent. I can remember getting vertigo, and at the time the size of the levels seemed huge. I like the exploring old tombs, when the franchise took a more 'in the real world' approach, i never enjoyed them as much.

I hope this makes it to 360. I enjoyed the first TR more than it's sequels.

This is definitely a must buy for me. I haven't really enjoyed any of the sequels, although I've still to play the full version of TR Legends (the demo was good enough to warrant buying the game, so one of these days I'll definitely buy it).

What a boring screenshot. Why even release that as your first screen? lol.

*sighs in exasperation*

I hope every 360 game makes it to PS3. It's only fair, right? </sarcasm>

This game is a quick cash-in for current-gen consoles. Eidos already has a game engine up an' running (TR: Legends). The installed base for next-gen consoles is too small to justify the expense of porting the game (and PS3 owners can play the PS2 game thanks to BC). I'm well aware that Legends was a launch title for 360, but it probably didn't sell very well (compared to the current-gen platforms). And with action-adventure games like Lost Planet on the horizon, why would 360 owners settle for a PS2/PC port that doesn't take advantage of the more powerful hardware?

Oh yea the first TR was awesome, T Rex, mutant thingies, the midus touch, jumping ridiculously stupid distances or just drowning in a never ending under water labrynth.. ahh the memories.

I duno if i would pay full price for it though, Legends was pretty good, so unless it come to the 360 as well i doubt i'll get it.

Not releasing this for 360 or PS3 is a big mistake IMO. Let's say this comes out during the 2007 holiday season. It will have to compete with the biggest games from three next generation systems. This decision makes no sense to me.

if 360 owners should not settle for such pants ports, why should ps3 owners ?

i LOVED the original Tomb Raider and i would buy it for sure, but i am not getting a ps3, so i really REALLY would like to see this come over

You know this is coming out for PS2, not PS3. And surely you can afford a PS2? (not insulting you financial status but c'mon, PS2s are really cheap now).

Ahh crap i was fooled, i didn't read it correctly i thought it was coming to the PS3.

I agree that Edios are missing a big chance, especially on the PS3 as they haven't seen a next gen Lara yet.. (saying that nor has the 360 *sniggers*)

The original Xbox is no longer in production. It is a dead/defunct console.

On the other hand, Sony's still making slimline PS2's. And there's over 100 million of them in circulation compared to the ~25 million Xbox's worldwide. Eidos' decision to bring the game to PS2 is basic common sense.

Oh yeah common sense that you wouldn release a game for 25 million people because there are 100 million others with another console .... is that what you're saying ? an installed base of 25 million is more than enough to justify releasing a game for the platform.

I wouldn't trust that install abse number anymore, alot of people who had original xboxes only, would have bought 360's by now, and if they haven't they probably own a PS2,so releasing it for both would be pointlessly expensive.

Where did I say people?! I was talking about shipped consoles... :|

As JediMasterMalik said, a lot of those Xbox owners are now 360 owners. And Eidos is planning a full-fledged sequel on next-gen consoles; it's scheduled for a 2008 release.
