Xbox 360

Microsoft put online these artworks and images of Blue Dragon, and while the images themselves were in Famitsu a while ago, they still should be watched without japanese letters all over them.

the water is fantastic. Im not sure im enthusiastic about the art direction though. It seems very cute and childish. Although I am confident it will be a good game. But out of lost oddysey and this, im more excited about the living for 1000 years storyline and UE3 rendered beast. Having said that im sure both will be worth a purchase.

its a bit dragon bal z like but not like a one on one copy of it, this is one of the reasons i have bought a 360.
as to the games childish looks i like them Final fantasy IX alos had a sort of childish looks to it and it was the best part of the serie (in my opinion and i have played them all, xcept for FF3)

Coming from someone who has an anime avatar ... hmmmm, not sure if your aware that generally Japanese games tend to go for the cute childish look ..

Sad that MS didn't show some new stuff on this game, i'm dying to see more .. :(

They're not doing a very good job of hyping this game up. And whatever happened to Lost Odyssey and Cry On? =/

LO won't be released till late in 2007 and Cry on probably 6-12 months after.

I agree they aren't hyping this up but then its still a long way off till it hits western shores, so no point, most 360 users are aware of this game though.

lol I like my anime. I agree though that japanese is sort of childish. Like in bleach (where my avatar is from) you have those weird cudly toys in it. But its from one extreme to another because they have like huge bloody fights aswell. I think with this one its the fact that they all look like children that makes it a little to childish. And the main character in anime is usually a bit of a beast , naruto, ichigo, goku etc. This to me seems like one those where the main character is weak *cough* evangelion. If they spruse the guy up, give him a sword, some red eyes and a cape im game lol.

This game is going to have to animate like a dream and have a very interesting game mechanic for me to think about it. I'm not a Final Fantasy fan- so the fact that this comes from that guy does NOTHING for me- but my main concern is the 'cute' art direction. If it animates really well though- I'll look deeper...

It's the Chrono Trigger team so I'm gettin this for sure. Akira Toriyama is involved (hence the DBZ look). Graphics look amazingly detailed. I think Pixar will have to sit down and think about what they're doing with their lives after this game is released . Adds some flavor to the 360's collection. Can't be full of all Gears of Wars and Forzas.

Sakaguchi said they have a new animation technique that allows for smooth joint action.

Also it has neat touches like when a character turns he will move his head and look in the direction you want to turn/run before his body moves.

The water actually flows and moves instead of having animated textures, there is real time refraction with heat and water, light will break through tree's and semi-transparent objects, the game engine is using self shadowing and soft shadows so if light shines through a tree it will be reflected correctly in the shadow, dust and clouds reacts intelligently to the wind and weather changes.

There are things they are doing with this game engine that we haven't seen in games yet.

It may look cartoony but could be one of the most visually impressive game out next year.

I still don't think this game will make it to Japanese store shelves this year. There's such a dearth of information, let alone images and movies of this game that I wonder if they're making enough progress for a late 2006 release. All we get to see are the same half a dozen pictures and the same movie we saw months ago. That's not a lot for a big RPG that's supposed to make or break the Xbox 360 in Japan. Since its such an important title for MS, I'd expect them to use this title for everything its worth in the Japanese gaming press, but so far there's almost nothing. Either MS is using a very cautious marketing technique, or they simply don't have that much to show for so far...

Square-Enix rarely release video's and pictures unless it's a jump event, TGS or one of their own event's.

I think Microsoft are saving the big guns for TGS, expect this and a Final Fantasy game, which im sure will get Microsoft a lot of attention at TGS.

lol bleach is kool simply for bankai. If it didnt have bankai it wouldnt rope me in lol. Although to be fair I like any anime where the main guy his some special power where he goes insane for a bit and kicks arse.....dbz,naruto,bleach,inuyasha was ok but I got bored of that. On topic are these the first mistwalker games? Because I know there making 3 for the 360, cry on, blue dragon and lost oddysey. But have they done any before?

The character's do look very childish, but as with anime maybe the story line will more than make up for it.

As far as graphics are concerned, I think some people need to consider what they're asking of game designers. Imagine if you were a designer and you wanted to create a certain type of game, but all these people pressured you to create another type of game that looks more realistic. You're asking designers to sacrifice their artistic integrity. Every painting is not done in a realistic manner. Neither are games. People need to realize this and stop their moaning. And that's all I have to say

it's akira toriyama!!!!!!!! DBZ and Dragon quest 8 artist!!

I'm hyped about this game..i never liked the art style at first due to it being not dark at all, but after dragon quest 8..loved the art style!!!

I didn't like the game being 3d, Cell shading would've been great..but still looks great..one of the reasons why i bought an xbox360!! next up! more info on CRY ON!
