Loved this franchise last gen, now I played the demo and this feels quite old tbh. Feels like an arcade cabinet and I don't want that from this game. The music does not fit the game too imo.

Couldn't agree more. I am happy that the hardcore fans still love the game, but I think my tastes have just evolved since the days when I loved playing AC on my PS2. Unfortunately for me, the gameplay hasn't changed since then, other than becoming more mainstream.

Your tastes have DEvolved...just kidding.
In all honesty though, I don't see how the gameplay could drastically change, it's a flight shooting game, it's kind of akin to complaining about FPS games not changing. The core mechanics were rock solid already, but they have undergone a major change in this new iteration comparing to literally all the preceding games. Still, the expert control scheme was a must for me, if they had jettisoned that, I would not be interested.

Because of the new simplified dog fight mechanic, those are exactly the ones who aren't content with this game (the exception proves the rule ;). Or better said "won't be", if the full game forces the player to use that mode the same way, the demo does. And it certainly looks that way at the moment.
On the gameplay in generel, besides not liking the game myself at the moment because of said dog fighting, I share munkini's opinion.
