Looking great, loved the demo, day 1.

Really like those old analogue cockpits with all the antiquated dials in the old Migs, good to see 4th generation fighters getting some love.

Loved this franchise last gen, now I played the demo and this feels quite old tbh. Feels like an arcade cabinet and I don't want that from this game. The music does not fit the game too imo.

Couldn't agree more. I am happy that the hardcore fans still love the game, but I think my tastes have just evolved since the days when I loved playing AC on my PS2. Unfortunately for me, the gameplay hasn't changed since then, other than becoming more mainstream.

Your tastes have DEvolved...just kidding.

In all honesty though, I don't see how the gameplay could drastically change, it's a flight shooting game, it's kind of akin to complaining about FPS games not changing. The core mechanics were rock solid already, but they have undergone a major change in this new iteration comparing to literally all the preceding games. Still, the expert control scheme was a must for me, if they had jettisoned that, I would not be interested.

Because of the new simplified dog fight mechanic, those are exactly the ones who aren't content with this game (the exception proves the rule ;). Or better said "won't be", if the full game forces the player to use that mode the same way, the demo does. And it certainly looks that way at the moment.
On the gameplay in generel, besides not liking the game myself at the moment because of said dog fighting, I share munkini's opinion.

About the game

What's up?
  • MrWhite
MrWhite The game doesn't have to rely on cheap jump scares normally associated with traditional game design in VR. The immersion just does it automatically. It's something a normal TV can't compete with. (11 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite the game should come with a warning and a disclaimer should you decide to play it in VR. As soon as you're there, it's extremely uncomfortable, even if nothing is happening. (13 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite @alimokrane: Trust me on this, if immersion and horror is the aim here, and it is, then first person and VR makes perfect sense. I'm not joking when I say this... (14 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite @alimokrane: The demo is tame compared to what I seen in the first 45 minutes. The atmosphere got ramped up big time, and don't be thinking you're safe behind closed doors or walls. (16 minutes ago)
  • alimokrane
alimokrane @MrWhite: I know people prefer VR or first person view but if they were to patch 3rd person view, my life would be complete. (16 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Light and shadows, as well as sound, play a massive role in the design of the game. I'm confident it'll be a return to form. (17 minutes ago)

alimokrane @MrWhite: True. I still havent got over how scare the RE7 demo was... crickey! (18 minutes ago)
