Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is back with these images from the New York Comic Con. This RPG, planned for a 2011 release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, is developed by 38 Studios under the leadership of Ken Rolston, former lead deisgner of Morrowind and Oblivion.

When I see this and compare it with screens of Arcania or the Witcher 2, Kingdoms of Amalur looks like a last gen titel...like Fable 3...

Looks a bit lacking in inspiration. I feel like i've seen this more than once before, if you know what i mean. Well, i guess it's too early to say anything though...need to see gamepaly before it's time to declare it this or that :)

Bring It, a wow turned into a non-mmo can be a nice change, the people in it makes it alteast interesting to be on radar.

Better that another generic shooter for the shooterstation.

You lads have all the luxury in the world to call this game uninspiring, last-gen etc, etc! You opinions certainly have weight AFTER you have played the game. Before that some form of moral support is always welcome. Developers never set out to make a bad or broken game. They honestly believe in what they do and perhaps this game may have a great feel of adventure and unique gameplay elements. Visuals aren't everything boys! Castlevania LoS is close to the worst game I have played in recent memory but one that had all the great screenshots to show before it was released! So keep your opinions holstered until it matters! It really bothers me that games like Modern Warfare manage to sell over 10 million copies because of the hype that the gamers create amongst themselves when in truth the franchise is nothing more than standard and derivative entertainment.

So becasue you don't like Modern Warfare 2 we must all like this? Why can't i think that a sword-swinging knight in a typical fantasy setting looks uninspired? Do i have to play the game for that? Besides, what makes you think this will not be a derivative piece of trash as well? I agree that the industry in general is in a pretty shitty place right now where risk adversity is more important than making great games, but be bloody serious here; this is also a triple-a title. You'll find the odd and risk-taking stuff on the indie side of gaming nowadays, not with the triple-A titles.

We should not be to fast to judge, i agree, but that goes both ways; it's not automatically awesome just becasue it's unknown. We can only talk about the visuals and that's what i did. I don't understand what you'd want from a post like this. We have shots, that's what we can comment on.

I also said the same thing with betsheda's Hunted, and in the end it's a Gears of War in medieval fantasy land. no more, no less.

I hope this is a proper RPG.

@Cheboury so true man so true. and BO will sell millions as well. its so sad that the really good games dont sell that well and generic garbage like BO will sell millions lol. but i diagree with you on CASTLEVANIA LOS. i think its an awsome game and i like it way more than GOW 3(my opinion)

Can't say I'm a fan of the design at all; cartoon-like colour palette with over-sized and elaborate weapons just isn't my idea of a good fantasy world. If this was more Tolkien-like, with a more realistic feel but with that fantasy direction thrown in, I'd be more excited.

Saying that, anyone who has even an ounce of interest in video games can't look at the talent involved in this and not be at least a tad excited.

My excitement for another open world single player focused experience outweighs any minor complaints about 'uninspired' art direction. Personally I don't see anything wrong besides some slightly generic armor.

Besides, comparable games such as Oblivion can't even compete from what I've seen from these pics. I imagine the animation will be significantly better as well, because you can't get much worse than Oblivion or Fallout.

Seeing how combat is going to play a much bigger part in this than it ever did in Oblivion, you'd expect the animations to be of a decent standard.
