Page 1 2 >>As far as the gameplay alone, it really feels like real baseball, but that may be partially because the ball is as hard to hit in this game as I had in gym class :X
[edit : one more thing, I don't feel like I'm out of control in batting though, there are some classic baseball games that I feel it's completely random if I hit the ball or not, this one feels dead on basically.]
This game is 640p according to Beyond3D.com.
This game is 640p according to Beyond3D.com.
if that is the case (which i doubt) its one of the damn best looking 640p games i've ever seen.
The lighting is fantastic.. but the overall image quality is sorta meh in screen shots (note: I haven't played the demo). That's not a result of resolution anyway, but most people would doubt that COD4 is 600p too..
As a UK-based gamer, baseball games rarely get released here so it's great that all PS3 games are region-free as it means I can import it. Looking forward to playing the full game sometime next month.

Personally I wouldn't take their word for it, but it's possible they're right.

The assessment of COD4's resolution has ONLY been taken from SCREENSHOTS, not someone actually playing the game, Halo 3 can look blocky and it's one of the few that's actually been confirmed to run at a lower resolution (640p), COD4 would even look worse in that way if true, but it doesn't.
Better AA and better everything else help (or maybe not--they're both 2XAA).
Personally I feel I can tell pretty well when a game is significantly lower resolution. PGR3 for example doesn't even look a whole lot better in HD than SD (I think it's 540p or something), and Halo 3 did look more jaggy than most but I didn't think about it too much.
Well on B3D with regards to COD4 they've only really tested the PS3 version for real. So maybe the PS3 version is lower resolution I dunno.

Oh and PGR3 is 600p too--and I think it looks way better on a high def. display than it would @ 480p. That's still a pretty decent jump in resolution. As significant as 600p to 720p.
I have no trouble believing that COD4 is sub-720p, and your reaction is exactly what I was talking about ;)

IMO PGR3 doesn't look 'way better' on high def. When I first got a 360 I forgot about the HD switch on the cable and I was running it in 480p and while I noticed a huge difference in other games, PGR3 didn't impress me with that jump as much. There's a difference, but I wouldn't call it 'way better' like a lot of other games.
BTW, the jump from 600p to 720p is smaller proportionally than the jump from 480p to 600p. It technically should be way more noticeable. Basically my stance is 480p to 720p is huge, while 480p to 600p wasn't huge to me.
Well I do have trouble believing it. It really looks like a full 720p game or close enough that I can't see the difference. What are you talking about "my reaction"?
Your reaction = "but most people would doubt that COD4 is 600p too.."--which was my original point. Go ahead, find someone else who has counted the pixels and come up with 720p or something, and then get back to me.. I'll believe the efforts of B3D over, "it looks like 720p to me."
Why do you assume the people on Beyond3d have some sort of advanced knowledge? They do have some brilliant people, but the brilliance doesn't rub off on every other poster. I don't want to go too offtopic from MLB08, but I can bring up many specific instances of people there being wrong about things. It's fine if you don't want to do any of your own research or learn anything yourself, but don't try to discredit me because you simply choose to believe someone else.
