There are some minor graphical upgrades from the Dreamcast version I see. The biggest one being a minor refraction effect on the water, basically it makes it look more wavey.

lol I 'defended' it here before. I liked the Dreamcast game, but hey I'm really just pointing out the fact that they didn't just port it over from Dreamcast.

Is it possible that this too is an arcade port? I read somewhere that HOTD2&3 Returns are actually arcade perfect ports of those games.

The reflection sounds like the kind of thing they might've sacrificed in porting it to the DC.

I hope they get a bunch of arcade games ported over, it's a perfect console to have accessible arcade thrills with replay value/score attacks.

That's a good question, but typically these type of reflection distortions only started showing up with basic shaders or really advanced processors, Gamecube games, and Xbox games, PS2 had the effect sometimes done in software.

I only wish they'd do more than just port a single or 2 arcades games on a disk. For example, they could have put HOTD1 on that HOTD collection disk, and if they had included HOTD1-3 AND Virtua Cop 1&2 (and even 3), I would pick it up easily.

I read an interview somewhere that explained why HOTD1 wasn't on there... but I really don't remember the excuse.

I would've liked to see it too, considering how rough the Saturn version was.

I'm not too fussed that they didn't stick everything on this, because for some reason I'm not really keen on the kind of compilation discs where they just shovel games on there until it's filled up. I much prefer that they build a proper interface for the games and make every aspect of it actually feel like it's given some care. The Megadrive collection on PS2 really just felt like an emulator and a truckload of roms without any sense of direction or theme for the packaging.

This'll retail for dirt cheap too, just like Ghost Squad, so I'm prolly gonna pick it up.

Yea Sega has done a lot of that, the whole Sega Ages series in Japan was like that I hear.

Yeah, I've been like OOH gotta get that! And then watched those float by.

Some day I DO have to get those though. Virtual On, Last Bronx, Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers, and many many more.... :)

And they all look great too! Sharp and blocky in their proper arcade glory.

Oh and then there's the NiGHTS one coming out in february, but I don't think that's technically in the Sega Ages line of games.

GriftGFX This VR rhythm game looks pretty fun: [url] (1 Hour ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite that's a pretty big deal, as its probably the biggest stumbling block for the tech. (4 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Stuff like inside out tracking and eye tracking, as well as motion sickness solutions should be in place. We've already got a product in development that claims to have eradicated that already (4 Hours ago)

MrWhite The potential of it is massive. More so than what traditional gaming now is. Second gen is going to be very interesting. (4 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite We're sort of being spoon fed bit sized "experiences" that either work or don't. I suppose that's part of the freshness of it, though. I just wish some big devs would get more involved. (4 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite @KORNdog: Ironically, though, the VR scene is also playing it safe. Too safe. There's not enough big risk titles like RE7. (4 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I can't really wrap my head around being dismissive of indie games. That's a pretty broad label. (7 Hours ago)
