i don't know what to think...first off, this is BioWare and i love bioware. Then again it's sonic and Sonic sucks. Also it kind of looks like jRPG. And it's for a hand held, i really don't like hand held system. Hmm.

Well, I love Bioware, i like Sonic, i love RPGs (especially jRPGs) and I like the DS.
So, I think it looks great so far....

So I don't see the problem. It's not like all their ressources are put into that project. I'm glad to see them handle a different type of game.

I don't think Mass Effect 2 is announced yet, but EA did say they'd pimp the shit out of that franchise.

Imo there hasn't been any GOOD sonic games since Sonic 3 basically. Sonic Advance 1 & 2 were alright i guess but other than those Sonic has just been abused for the last 12 years. But that's just my opinion.

I'd be much more inclined to like this if it wasn't Sonic i think.

Sonic has been abused and he has always been one of my favorite characters. I really hope this game comes out good and ppl get there dang act together!

The first sentence was a bit uncalled for, so I won't quote it...Sonic Rush was ok, but really it's a matter of opinion. I believe handheld Sonic games have been good so far, while console Sonic games have suffered greatly. I believe this game can be the Sonic RPG to Mario's RPG for snes.

sonic went to shit after the genesis/megadrive era (yes, advanture sucked balls) and im not entirely sure an RPG is what the franchise needs to revive him. i think sonic is pretty much dead. the last game i played which was even remotely decent was rush on the DS.

You mean when he went from 2d to 3d? That's why Sonic advance and rush are so much better, because they stuck to 2d?

No your being the dick, there doesn't seem to be much that you do like though, so i guess your games library must be pretty small, or you much play A LOT of crap games.

The main reason Sonic has been less than good is because Sega have lost their edge, this isn't a Sega game so it could turn out pretty damn good, It's nice to see Bioware trying something different.

You missed Dragon Age. For shame.

I love Bioware, but I hope that they don't keep the turn-based system. It works for Final Fantasy, but Sonic is about speed and a turn-based system doesn't convey that.

I hope its awesome cause I absolutely adore Bioware and I love Sonic, although I have a hard time imagining a Sonic game with an intriguing story, but if anyone can pull it off I think it would be Bioware.

Mass Effect was said to be a trilogy, even when it was first announced. The second game is due this year, and then the third next year. I wouldn't count on them sticking to that schedule, but yeah.

They're also working on Jade Empire 2.

Nice idea to take Sonic into a different style of game, but to me handheld rpg's never tend to work out. I prefer my RPG's on the real conosles

Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure absolutely ROCK. Sonic Advance 1 and 2 were great but maybe didn't dare step out of their megadrive shoes and felt more like modest imitations. Sonic Battle was good, Sonic and The Secret Rings was great, and Sonic Riders - while ball bustingly insane learning curve - was ultimately good too.

Sonic Adventure 1 had all the usual charm and decent enough gameplay, Adventure 2 had great gameplay but lacked charm.. and everything else inbetween now and then is basically rubbish.

That's my take on it. :)

I'm prolly too big a Sonic fan for my own good but I do reckon I have a semi-adequate perspective on things despite that fact, and saying Sonic's sucked since the Megadrive days I think is more about people being nostalgic and not having given the games a proper chance than the statement being true.


Regardless of all that I think this looks brilliant. Not just for being Sonic but for having some really amazing art in general. Watercolour backgrounds for the absolute win, and since when do BioWare really screw things up? Although thematically some stuff isn't always to everyone's liking (I know Mass Effect got too stuffy for me personally) they're pretty hardcore developers and know what makes a good game tick.
