I know it still sounds unbelievable to many, including myself, but it looks like The Last Guardian is actually going to be released on time this year on October 26 (in Europe). It seems like Sony wanted to reassure us it was still the case by sending us these 5 new images.

PS. I'm really glad it's finally coming out, after ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, I hope it delivers on most of the hype.

I'm afraid this game is going to suffer from a too short development period, ironically enough. I hope I'm wrong because I'm looking forward to it but I think it's going to be rushed.

Based on these pics, look like moving it to the PS4 added little to nothing in terms of graphics. Officially an indie game in my book, posing as a AAA title....see No Man Sky for example.

I wait for this one on the cheap. Hey we've been waiting forever so what's a few more months for a game taking years to launch.

And even as a "game that looks like a PS3 game but in 1080p", its still amazing looking and better than so many other games out there. Shadow of the Colossus in HD in 2011 still somehow looked stunning to current gen games at the time.

I'm not sure what's the stronger feeling; happiness that it's finally coming, or fear of how bad it will probably suck because of being stuck in development limbol for so long.

Cautiously excited for this. On a fundamental level it is different to any thing released thus far this gen that in itself carries a real novelty especially when almost every other game can be described as a better or worse version of something played the year before. It's an often overlooked quality and probably because fresh games are rare but a platformer puzzler is a sight to behold this gen.

What did you want exactly, explosions and shooting? The game is a puzzle platformer, plus they clearly don't want to spoil more stuff. We already got a huge spoiler at E3.

Actually, it's simply a matter of not being able to see something objectively when you worship the developer... I can't see any benefit in trying to intentionally push people away (which I don't think they're doing). But those shots look like something I'd see on deviantart. I think the ico devs have enough blind followers that they could release pictures of actual shit and people would say "I can't wait," but, that aside, it doesn't change the fact those shots are boring.

Lets be honest though, its not exactly a stunner in terms of the graphics. Doesnt need explosions, it just needs to look a bit less like a ps3 game after all this time.

but it is a PS3 game, most of its development time was spend there, if they started from scratch it would have taken even longer lol. it's animations, physics, particles and destruction are more current gen though (hence the issues i think they were having last gen) i mean, that creature moves better then most things i've seen in current gen games. it's definitely one that looks far better in motion. artistically i love it though.

Yeah, obviously the game could have been better graphically compared to more current games but still better than nothing. I just hope that the game will be awesome and that they will fix the fps drops that people mentioned in previews.

Considering how long they've been working at the game, i figure the graphics artists could probably have snuck some higher res shaders in there wihtout killing the game. I bet it's still gonna run at 30 fps anyway :P

I just wonder what the team has been up to all this time. Have they just not been working on the game at all? Have they moved the artists and coders not needed to other projects or what? Unless they shifted the staff around to other projects there is NO reason why it looks this bad. Make all the excuses you want, but this shit has been in development for 9 friggin years. Would at least expect them to keep it up to date if they are gonna charge 60 buckaroos for it.

If it was a smaller team with less backing, i'd totally let it slip, but knowing that sony is funding this just makes me go "how did this even happen?".

I hope that we will find out the whole story one day but honestly i doubt it. Let's just hope that the graphics will be the only big problem and not anything else. I personally would be satisfied enough if it was just great but if it's bad i will be very dissappointed. Chances of living up to 10 years of hype are almost zero but it would be incredible if it happened
