Interview with Bungie

Interview with Bungie

Thanks to the XCN, the Xbox Community Network, we got our hands on another great interview, this time with the mighty Frank O'Connor - Content Manager at Bungie Studios. Inside you'll find his thoughts about the old, and upcoming Halo.

Nice interview.

I hate how all anyone cares about in Halo is multiplayer. 75% of that interview was all about multiplayer. good single player > good multiplayer

But still informative nonetheless :]

I enjoyed this interview quite a bit, and encourage more from more developers in the future.

Nice. Campaign sounds like it will be awesome. I'm gonna take a year out just to play it over and over again.

halos multiplayer is what gets played the most and is the biggest selling point in the game. apart from the fact that they like to keep the story in campaign strictly secret ofcourse so they really cant talk much about single player. talking about MP lets gamers hear about gameplay, new vehicles/weapons, options without revealing anything new about the story. so this is only natural. just gonna have to wait for the game.

I won't call multiplayer evolved if Bungie still hasn't got around to multiple objective based gameplay. You'll never see master chief sky-diving on top of a Covenent destroyer for a friggin flag or a skull or to dodge grenades in a holographic circle.

I want the epic struggle between the Covenent and Spartan forces in mulitplayer.

*Provide a variety of soldier types on both sides--Stop screwing around with the weapons/four-wheelers and start implementing different playable Spartan types, Orbital Drop Shock Troops, Marines, Technicians||Hunters, Brutes, Elites, Jackals, Grunts, etc.

*Use multiple objectives time in such a way to enforce teamwork instead of teabagging

*A conflict must evolve with the story. Simply turn a bunch of random maps into a heated contest for domination of a key solar system in the conflict. Insert 500kb galaxy map, use statistic tracking to influence battle outcomes. Use the monthly tally to evolve the story.

Somewhat dissapointed to hear that the game's gameplay is leaning towards Halo 2's style. Because in all honesty, I don't think there's a game I hate more than Halo 2. Horrible doesn't quite describe my feelings towards what they did to the Halo series in releasing that game.

And what exactly was it that you didn't like?

Anyway, borrow it next year or something, rent it for a while. Decide whether you like it or not and don't be sorry about anything.

With RTCW2 and UT2007 coming next year who cares about Halo 3.

Um... 90% of 360 owners? At a guess.

As long is it gets back to more solid feeling of the original and loses the rushed feel of 2, I'm fine with what they do. And I'm glad to hear they remain uninfluenced by other challenges.

About the game

  • asdfg
asdfg I liked Geoffs speech. For once something actually felt real at the otherwise so corporate TGA. (8 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Moonwalker: as i said, they're friends. not just "we see each other once ever 5 years at an award show" "friends". but actual friends. things were obviously going to be personal. (1 Hour ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker @KORNdog: Nothing with calling the company out but we had that last year already. And showing Hideo respect is cool but I thought this was way too much. (1 Hour ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog back to geoff though, i honestly appreciated seeing some emotion come from those cold, dead mountain dew sponsored eyes. the guy is a lifeless husk most of the time. (1 Hour ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog "Dreamfall Chapters will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both physically and digitally for $29.99 / €29,99 / £24,99 via publisher Deep Silver on March 24, 2017" finally! (2 Hours ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Moonwalker: i think they've been friends for years. when you have a stage, why not use it to call out a company and their BS? (2 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker @Tiz: Agreed. (2 Hours ago)
