Interview with Sumo Digital and AM3

Interview with Sumo Digital and AM3

XCN has provided us with another great interview, this time with the developers behind the just-released Virtua Tennis 3. I found the demo hard to begin with, as many of you out there, but more and more training made the game really entertaining. Inside you'll find their thoughts about 1080p, DLC, explanation of the online mode and much more.

It's sad how they have to dodge all the negatively charged PS3 questions. Instead of complaining how Sony had nothing ready for online matchmaking or services, they turn it around as a priority issue. Same story for VF5 then.

But hats off for a great looking, 60fps 1080p game! Some devs cant get the tennis ball on a black background to run at 30fps at 720p.

Wow, they only started work on the 1080p support on 360 last autumn? I'm quite impressed they managed it, and at 60Hz!

But i'm quite surprised that, from teh sounds of things, there is no online play for the PS3 version. Correct me if i'm wrong, but thats a little poor. Still, the 360 version gets the full Live treatment.

Boring interview.. Mainly because of all the predictable avoiding PR answers (read: no answers at all) to the somewhat more interessting questions..

PS3 is getting the step child treatment from developers now o_O

About the game

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @KORNdog: Still very different. More like Diablo but the "game feel" is not as polished. Systems are more well designed, but I have to give it to Diablo when it comes to fit and finish. (5 Hours ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @GriftGFX: like divinity? Better or worse? Might be one i dust off the xbox for. (6 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX The economy is unique and will probably seem strange to new players.. but every system is cleverly tied together in PoE. (6 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX And yes.. the passive skill tree is pretty insane. It has a healthy mix of rigid decision making in its passive tree and flexibility in the active skill system. (6 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Path of Exile is an endlessly playable action RPG and Pillars of Eternity is a turn-based single player game w/ a party system. (6 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX No they are not.. they are both RPGs and they both have isometric cameras but that's where the similarities end. (6 Hours ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz I always confuse the PoE abbreviation with Pillars of Eternity. Are they even the same type of game? (6 Hours ago)
