very surprised by this! I thought it would end up sucking just like Getaway 2 but looks like Team Bondi is in good hands with R* games

I saw more mission variety in this than in RDR. That's because even though each mission is going to a place, you're not there to kill everyone. It's already going to be more memorable, if they have less of the gunfights and more of the investigation. And for that, they need great textures before it turns into pixel hunting. Which looks like they have.

The skeptic in me is happy that Rockstar is finally behind a game that has nobler goals than shooting people.

Best facial animations ever! I´m happy to se a Rockstar game with criminal investigation as a main goal, and not shooting or killing people.

My big fear was, that it would play like GTA. But it doesn't seem so, which I'm very happy over.

Character movement isn't like steering wheel. YES!

"Hold R2, and use Left analog stick to run" YES!

No lock on! YES Using without lock-on in RDR was too hard, I would just lock-on then let go to manually aim for headshots.

The gunplay looks more like Mafia 2, which was great in that department.

This is not an action game. Story are important but this game is taking this too seriously lol.

faces look too good compared to the rest of the game. they're awesome, and i can see this tech being used really well in a more confined, linear game, or next gen when the visuals of the world/characters can match the visuals of the faces. but they're also massively distracting in a bad way imo. this tech is too ahead of it's time.

will give it a rent tho. looks interesting gameplay wise.

Definitely very interesting looking, and I hope the detective and story stuff are front and foremost.

Aside from the facial tech, which is by far the best in video game history, the rest of the engine looks a little mediocre though. Dodgy screen space ambient occlusion, weak lighting, and generally low detail objects and environments don't really impress.

Still, the game looks interesting which is much more important. Could be the first real highlight of 2011.

I don't think any of these things are weak enough to distract me at all. They may not be the best graphics, but they more than get the job done. And the art direction is spot on.

So strange.....

They use PS3 version of game to be the demonstration in this film, why they didn't use 360 one? Rockstar's game always got the better looking picture in 360, isn't it?

This is not a rockstar game. They are not making it. Team Bondi (who is a completely independent company unaffiliated with rockstar) is making the game while Rockstar is publishing it. Rockstar has no say in any actual design choices. Plus the devs and rockstar have already stated that the game will not be a sandbox style game like GTA or RDR.

PS3 is the lead platform. And, as Doom_Bringer said, it was originally funded by Sony as a PS3 exclusive, until Rockstar took over.

Well that's not strictly true. Rockstar are indeed publishing the game, but they're also assisting Team Bondi with development. And I'd guess they are, and have been, heavily involved in the creative process. [Rockstar] after all have, supposedly dumped a ton of money into developing this game; more than Sony originally did before they scrapped the game.

I think they used to grab stuff with an hankerchief or something similar back then, I don't know but seeing this dude touch evidence with his bare hands seems and looks stupid, like if he is a rockie or something.

only trouble with games like this is they live and die on their missions. This will be like Mafia..where you cant get away with using that open world as a playground so much, or filling it with differing things that take you wildly off path (like RDR and GTA4 could indulge in). I really hope those missions have enough variety to make the most of the world..and not waste it like Mafia 2.

I also hope you have to use your brain to piece together the clues.

The only thing i was disappointed about from that trailer is i was expecting a Mass effect style conversation wheel.. instead it looks like you get 3 basic options each time. I really hope conversations carry game changing consequences.. i wanna be able to have a second play through, knowingly arrest the wrong guy..and have that mean something
