Lost Odyssey: scan and infos

Lost Odyssey: scan and infos

It's coming finally ! Famitsu just revealed a lot of informations about Lost Odyssey, the game engine, the combat system and the playable demo, as well as an awesome screenshot. See more in the news.
Update : Full scans added!

The game engine will run at 30 fps, and the character models for the movies are almost identical to the realtime models, which have been checked closely by Inoue, the character designer. We also learn the game will use a command menu driven interface for the combats, we'll get the powers of any enemy defeated, and there'll be no game over, as the main character is immortal. At least, a few words about the demo. It will be available in Japan in early November, it will last about one hour and won't feature anything but the most basic parts of the combat system. No character growth system as well. We can't wait to grab you videos of the game next week, at TGS.

Great is an understatement. Can't wait to see this in motion!!

Looks like a traditional turn-based RPG, which is cool IMO.

How great the game looks actually manages to shine even in low quality scans like this :D

I think its more than traditional turn based sakaguchi mentioned something about controlling a movie action sequence or something like that. Either way I think we all know this game will look incredible in motion :D

Actually, It is said said to be a mix of final fantasy 6 and 8 with a darker tone.

Yep, in the opening intro for exemple, you'll be able to seamlessly input commands for the battle scene.

Will this have proper real time scrapping or turn based bollocks that all Japanese rpgs seem to have?
Looks like the later from this screen shot.

Well, what about reading the news ?

Scan looks like a regular turn-based battle tho, judging by the characters' stances.

Anyway, it's nice to know that it'll have interactive cutscenes. Love those. Maybe it's something like QTE's on Shenmue?

If thats ingame it looks mindblowing.

That's in-game alright :) Because the image is low-q and it's a magazine shot, you won't see much details so it looks extremely good (note: I'm liking this game too :P)

I don't mind the 30 fps limit, because that looks good on some games.

it's said that theres a demo coming with the next (or so) famitsu magazine, so that'd be this november. :)

This concept sounds 100 times better than FF13. Thanks Sakaguchi, and I can't wait for the demo.

I'm not one to be impressed by a low quality scan, but I'm very excited for this game. Can't wait for TGS, and I pray that the demo comes to USA over Marketplace.
Doubt it.

Awesome game, I can tell, and that the trailer shown, its "almost" like the gameplay graphics it is most definately worth the wait. But there is something I do not understand.

"...the game will use a command menu driven interface for the combats"
Does this mean that it will be kind of like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game, were you choose what kind of attack you want and it will do it in real-time? Because if its like that then im all for it, better yet if its like turn-based/real-time action RPG game. But if its one of those "typical option driven hit A to attack and wait for your enemy to attack back" system, then no, I do NOT like it at all, kind of like Enchanted Arms.

And beside if the demo will come only in Japan, will it be on disc or marketplace?
I hope its both or just marketplace, I really want to download this game to see what kind of gameplay combat system it has.

MrWhite Sometimes the less you know about a character too = more interesting. Like G-Man. He pops up now and again being a creepy bastard. Thats what makes him interesting. (37 minutes ago)

MrWhite Plus the fact you were messing about with boxes is a good thing, no? Game first, story and characters second is my motto. (39 minutes ago)

MrWhite @KORNdog: Come on Korn, you know thats a horseshit statement you made. Before Naughty Dog and Bioware with Mass Effect, there was Alyx Vance. She may be a bit dated these days, but back then... (41 minutes ago)

KORNdog @MrWhite: i guess i missed it. i was too busy running about all over the place throwing boxes around as my mute husk. lol (54 minutes ago)

MrWhite What's this about Half Life not having decent characters? Seriously? It practically set the bar as far as that went. Alyx, Barney, Eli, G-Man to name a few. (58 minutes ago)
