going to put my diferences aside on what Laost Planet should and should not be, going on how not even Capcom knows after what they did with LP2, and say its really something that one of the most mediocre developers out there can create such a competent production as this. dunno if in the end it IS a "bad" game disguised on good production values, but color me atleast a bit intrigued.

Capcom has totally lost it with that bloody "western approach." If they think I want to play as an ugly bearded guy, because I'm a "western gamer" than they are really wrong. Do not want.

i dunno how this is going to turn out tbh. i didn't like the first 2 at all. so the change in developer/western approach doesnt bother me all that much in regards to this series. but based on those screenshots, i can at least say the visuals are a bit shit, so hopefully, whatever the game is now, actually plays well. otherwise we could have a poor looking and poor playing game on our hands...and i think we have enough of those.

LP1 was good, LP2 was boring as hell, this cant be as bad as LP2 can it?
Atleast the gunplay and camera is like a proper modernized designed unlike previous LPs.

I liked the gunplay in LP. It was great that you could shoot and run in different directions. That was the only good thing about it though...

Too bad about LP2 though. If it had had an actual campaign instead of requiring 4 players it might have impressed me. But it failed, hard.

And this developer... yeah this game is going to bomb.

I think this look cool actually. And the main character looks alot less stereotypical than your avarage western game hero, so I don't understand the bitching there... atleast he has a proper haircut unlike most of them.

Also, the graphics looks impressive considering it's made by Spark Unlimited and is based on Unreal Engine 3. Character models looks better and more naturally lifelike than in ME3 for instance - and that's a game which is supposed to revolve around characters and that kind of thing..

People are bitching so much nowadays, seriously :P I'm surprised the few times I see that people actuall are satisfied with something on the netz...

UE3 most of the time fails to impress me technically, but here it looks like they even managed to implement some AA. As a game i haven't high hopes for this one though. LP1 was great (if you played it the hard way), 2 a missed opportunity, and 3 will probably crash-land the whole franchise into oblivion.

a missed opportunity if you played it the wrong way. It was probably the most fun and jaw dropping co-op experince I played this generation from start to finish. It helped there was always a japanese dude there to beast the game.

Storyline, character sucked? Sure... they made a party game of the original "serious" shitty characters/story to begin with.

Yeah LP1 gunplay was good, but it was sometimes hard, i think i had a pretty intense aim assist for helping (dont remember much from it) and the environment and the grappling hook was also great and the music.
But interms of other gameplay, it was meh.

LP2 was boring, ugly art and character designs, no real story or anything.

This one based on what everyone is saying it seems like it, but i never played any game by them so i dont know.
I for one never cared about who makes what game or their track record, if its good to my standards and i see ennjoying factors i take it, if not, meh.

Fan of SP games & VS fighters (with reallife friends and such, not online friends), not a big fan of coop though -> read: not a fan of paying MS money for sth i'm already paying my internet provider for. That may sound petty, but it's a principle thing i'm not willing to betray (same goes for DLC's). Maybe when i'm to get a decent internet connection one day (in a future far far away), but right now ? No thanks.

Honestly, it doesn't look bloody at all from what I have seen. Also, your desire to only play with handsome Asian males must severely limit your choice of games no?

LP2 was superior in almost every way, except for the actual story plot and online netcode which made the versus multiplayer component almost unplayable.

LP2 had more weapons, bigger acrids, epic boss fights, multi-seat V.S., nice and different environments etc

What exactly made LP2 worse? The story? As if LP1 story was better, lol. LP2 took everything from LP2 and multiplied it several times. Are people bashing the game just because it wasn't really popular? LP2 actually received good review scores, too. People blame LP2 even though it is just more of the same from LP1. That doesn't make any sense.

The fact is, LP1 was somwthing new and special when it was announced. It was a hardcore japanese shooter, with no cover system, and pretty stiff controls, a "time limit" and the intuitive grappling hook gameplay. It had a setting which wasn't really overused by other games and the Acrids had incredible good animations (the Acrids were the actual highlights of LP). So many things why this game stood out from the competition. LP2 came out during the time when streamlining games to the broad mass was a common thing. LP2 was anything but a casual shooter. This is the only reason why the game "failed". Because the majority of gamers today don't want these games anymore.

And look what LP3 became now. A fine example of today's gamer and what he likes. Now it is a generic cover based shooter which scrapped almost every core gameplay element from LP1. Game looks totally boring to me. LP lost its spirit with LP3, which shouldn't even have a "3" in the title, cauz it is a prequel.

I still love LP2 and I wish Capcom would have improved the netcode for this game. Because it was the number one fun killer. Still, best LP to date. A game which deserves the title.

LP2 had segments that were almost unbeatable unless you had someone to help you. It just dropped you into one co-op battle after another. No structure or balance. That'd been great if you could find 3 people to join you but I definitely couldn't.

LP2 also did not receive better scores.

Yes perhaps an effeminate teenage boy from final fantasy would suit your fancy better. I'm glad they did away with the guy characters and just used a woman in the last game. Avatars have never bothered me much as long as it wasn't a linear long RPG such as final fantasy because you can't help to try to mold the role to your own personality in a given situation. Games like this though I don't really care much at all though, its similar to saying you aren't going to watch a movie because the protagonist is old.. It's an action game adventure game...

Looks cool. I wish people would stop judging things on negative assumptions and judge it by what it is. You never know why a developers previous games were great or bad. People move around in the business, so who knows who's at Spark, now?

The only thing I don't like is the main character. His head looks odd.

Going to give this a shot, though. At least this Gears-a-like isn't pretending it's "survival horror" (Dead Space 3, I'm looking at you!)

That's wrong. I played trough the game several times in solo mode. And even on the hardest difficult the game was quite easy (which was something even fans complained about). I also solo'd Extreme difficulty with no problems (in LP1 it was a pain in the..Acrid)

Even tricky parts like the giant railway cannon fight, which was considerd the hardest boss fight in the game by many non-LP fans/players, with the worm in the desert, can be done completely without using the main cannon(!!). The cannon wagon has 4 several smaller machine guns which can kill the worm boss in like 5 minutes or so. Hard? No. lol. Of course using the main cannon is more fun.
You have to keep in mind that LP2 offers perks and custom weapons in solo mode, too. You can also use them for making the game ridicolous easy.

And I haven't said LP2 received BETTER scores...

I dont judge games before i actually play them because i never know whats actually inside :) For Example Farcry ! I really did nor enjoy the first one, was more like " lets see what my new PC is capable of " I hated the second one deeply and i LOVE Fracry 3 . Sp actually as i heard Fracry3 is coming it was for me just " OMG Next please ! " . But 3 minutes into the Game and i knew This one rocks :)
So i keep myself openminded and judge after playing it.

Not really mate. I play all sorts of games. I just don't like this trend of Japanese developers forcing themselves to make their games more "western" or outsourcing them to western studios completely. It's not like every person that likes japanese games means, "I love magical girls with pink hair."
