...are the developers in asia really completely oblivious to how utterly cliché this kind of crap is!? OOh, a strong theme of love and hate, wonder where I've seen that before. Oh right, every jrpg ever made.

That's because not everybody thinks they are 'crap'.

Not my cup o' tea, live and let live.

I don't mean it's crap but it sounds like he thinks it's original or the games strong point or something, when every game in the genre does the exact same thing. A "strong theme of love and hate" is the foundation upon which the whole genre is built, it's like bragging about building a car with wheels!

Just be wary of the JRPG defence force, they will spray your hair pink or something.

And turn you into a 12 year-old girl/boy/shim... :o)

Hey, walk softly and carry a ten foot sword. It's gotta be longer than your atrocious hair! I would like to know how a dude with stick arms can whip around a sword as big as a motorcycle( it's ok Cloud, you're still my hero). I DO have to thank them for the ladies clothing, though :o As to the "love/hate" theme- it all comes down to how the write it. Will it be like something from an overdramatic teenagers diary? Probably, but at least the combat looks pretty cool...

Which is different to all western developed FPSs (for example) which are kill, murder, shoot soldiers in a corridor, AMERICA IS THE BEST. And so on. How original.

Originality is a scarce commodity in video game development now unfortunately, and it's a problem across all genres and all territories. To single out JRPGs for this fault is ridiculous and nonsensical. At least JRPGs still have depth to them, which is more than can be said for most of the other genres still surviving.

JRPGs have depth? Really? Teen angst drama, pseudo philosophy and bible quotations does not make a story deep. There are obviously games that break away from that but generally jrpgs are insanely uninspired. A shooter is not by necessity a story oriented experience, it might focus on the actual game play and thus a bare minimum of "see bad guy and fill him with lead" might suffice, but i think that the good american and european RPGs offer a pretty diverse plethora of plot lines. Just look at stuff like Planescape Torment, Fallout, The Witcher and Baldur's Gate.

Without jrpgs, I don`t really need my Xbox.
All other boring games can be played on pc.

Absolutely agree.

And on another note, two wrongs doesn't make a right :P

This is actually a KRPG( as in Korean), just thought i would throw that out there. Carry on....

in regards to the game at least, its not as bad (or frankly as completely cliched) as the newbreed 360 wrpg fanboy or western reviewer response has been, but its not as good as some of the jrpg defense force fanboys have proclaimed it to be.

if you're looking for, or don't mind, something with some interesting ideas (that are good but not perfect) surrounded by well enough executed (its not bad, but not particularly good or note-worthy either) rest-of-the-game meat, its worth checking out. i would say its probably not worth $60 though.

This is a Korean game. If you're going to give opinions and negative feedback without having actually played the game, at least make sure you are guided by the light when you do it, and not hiding in ignorant shadows.

And the "Jrpg defense force" wont be all over this game, because a Jrpg defense force knows this isn't a Jrpg, and thus they have no reason to defend it =)

That being said, the game sucks. I liked it better than Star Ocean on the 360, though. You know SO, right? It's that Jrpg game that is pretty popular =)

It's not a jrpg because what? It's developed in korea?
If it plays like a Jrpg, looks like a jrpg, sounds like a jrpg and all over seems to be a goddamn jrpg, it's probably a jrpg.

i return to you sir, "If you're going to give opinions and negative feedback at least make sure you are guided by the light when you do it, and not hiding in ignorant shadows."
you have no idea what i'm talking about. i HAVE played the game. i played it BEFORE most of you out there played it seeing as i played the japanese release.

i didn't say it was a jrpg.
did i?
point that out.
can't do it?
thats probably because i didn't mr. lacking reading comprehension.

but i DID mean the "Jrpg defense force". why? first, personal amusement. i'm usually the first to criticize the rampant wrpg fanboyism out there these days (note the prior statement). second, READ ANY FORUM OF THIS GAME. most of the people on it are those who like jrpgs. half of them don't know its korean.
therefore "Jrpg defense force".

i know EXACTLY what i'm talking bout. i know its korean. I'VE PLAYED THE ORIGINAL MAGNA CARTA THAT'S ONLY IN KOREAN.
YOU haven't a clue and just decided to flap your fingers accompanied with a banal attempt at the appearance of depth.

Game is too straight. It's such an obvious crap.
But it's a little interesting, though.
