played the demo..and it wasnt without it's troubles. Alot of stuttering on the cutscenes (to the point where it will be unacceptable if thats on the retail disc), and some framerate drops.

I do see visual improvements though..though slight. Its said to be using the ME3 engine... i'd expect abit more from ME3.

Game does play well with the ps3 pad though.. thats something that always worries me. And though i have it for the 360 i am tempted to pick this up cheap for the 8hours of extra content.

Those that havent played ME2 before and only have a ps3 should definatly pick this up without a second thought.

If not for the technical shortcomings this would be the version to own without a doubt.

I played ME1 on 360, ME2 on PC...but I am definitely getting ME2 on PS3 as well, just because I want to play it with a controller.

Cutscenes from the demo has some screentearing issues, I am hoping the demo is quite old and this wont be in the final retail version.
Visually it looks great, very sharp and vibrant with sometimes the FPS would go above 30 which is nice.

Awesome trailer too :)

Can't wait for next week!

One of the best games of 2009 definitely deserves more sales. EA are smart and ME3 at the end of year so they want more people to be interested in the game

You only have one small portion of game tested (digital foundry demo analysis) of a whole game with far more stressing moments than that 3 or 4 mechs room, and the difference in iomplementation is no v-lock here and with a better cutscene performance. But in the end the framerate chugs like a snail between 20 and 30 in the only combat section shown, so just prepare for what you'll see on the final version of the port... and this is a UE3 Port no less, so.

And there aren't 8 more hours of content, you know. there are the 3 paid DLCs bundled In, the same three that were in sale for 600 points or 6 dollars two weeks ago that any dumb loon even without the game and just a slight interest should shoulda just picked'em up without even thinking for that price.
In the end you get a 60$ year old port that doesn't seem to be goint to fare well in the performance department, when you could just get the same game now on PC or console (with DLC) for 20 bucks.

In barren corridors? ... and down to 20 in shooting segments? I down't know bout you but 30 locked frames is way better when the game can't seem keep up with decent framerate count.

Definitely some framerate issues. Image quality is slightly better but at the expense of performance, which is a bad decision. Maybe the end product will have it ironed out.

Dude, by a 360 wired controller, or wireless with the reciever for PC. Either way, its a MUCH better experience. Unless your PC is lacking, that would be a much better way to play the game.

It performs just fine. Stop trying to make it seem worse than it is. If you actually played the demo instead of watching videos, you'd see that.

Anyway, platform preference is always an important factor when deciding which version of a game to get and I can see why someone would want to get the PS3 version (they'd rather the extra DLC be tied to a disc rather than an account/console so they can share the game and they'd also like their content to be on one disc versus the two of the 360 for both this game and ME3).

I'm personally sticking with the PC version, but go for it if you want the PS3 version.

Also, EA is experimenting with day and date PSN release with this game. Should be interesting.

I have a wired 360 controller, but ME2 on PC doesnt support it, just like ME1.
The user interface is different as well, and using a one of those controller programs to map the buttons just doesnt feel comfortable at all.
If the game on PC would support native 360 controller then it would have been amazing, but unfortunetly thats not the case.

Also my PC can handle ME2, 1680x1050 resolution, everything maxed out (not much graphical options anyway) and can run it without a hitch.

I didnt notice the demo run lower than 30fps, ran just fine IMO.
The only thing that bothered me was the intro cutscene that had bad screentearing, but looking at the trailer, it seems reduced.
I just hope they fix that and then I dont have any issue.

Ugh, this info doesn't please me. I have both ME and ME2 on deck for the PC.

How bad is the situation really? Will it treat a controller as if it isn't even plugged in, or it just doesn't like certain brands, or it just doesnt' change the prompts to suit the 360 controller?

Is Mouse movement smooth or is it pixelated?

Mouse movement is smooth for ME2, and not quite as smooth for ME1. ME1 is really a terrible port.

Also, due to the completely different interface, a controller just wouldn't work since it is a circular pause screen on consoles versus a more straightforward screen on PCs. Not to mention hotkey set up. I guess Bioware didn't want to include both because they were a bit too lazy.

The user interface is different, it is designed for mouse/keyboard.
Even Bioware said the PC version doesnt support a controller at all.

Mouse is very smooth, feels great.
But I can't play for more than 2 hours, I just dont like to keep my arms up and seperated to hold the mouse and pressing the buttons on the keyboard, I just dont see it being comfortable.

Ah, thanks guys. As long as the movement is smooth I can get along just fine.

Yet, if jackdoe is correct about ME1, I may get upset.

I have ME1 for PC but I haven't tried it. The PC UI looks fantastic though.

Well I tried on both games, no controller works at all.

The UI is specifically made for mouse/keyboard. The UI is definitely good for sure :)

They should just have reused the original launch trailer. Best trailer ever.

You are welcome.

One thing that really bothers me is when you are running sometimes, Shepard's head is locked and looking at one direction all the time until you stop moving then it gets back to normal.
Happen frequently, both on PC and PS3 demo, I also heard from Raptor its the same on 360.
This happens only in Mass Effect 2 though, and I hope they fix this on the retail version for PS3, makes Shepard look stupid when he runs when it happens.

Its very stupid for a game developer to release a sequel to a game they want to get popular when the owners of that platform have not played the first.
