As you'll see in the new gameplay trailer inside, Saints Row IV will put you in the shoes of an ass-kicking President of 'Merica to fight against the invading aliens. Deep Silver will release the game in August.

true. I wouldn't complain at an over the top open world super hero game without the need to stick the saints row name to it. I guess a lot of the same humour will be coming across.. but saints row looks like its turning into more a crazy alternative to Infamous than to gta going by that trailer.

Thats what i'm getting at, saints row used to be an alternative to GTA, the fact its turned into THIS *points disapprovingly* just makes me wonder why they even bothered to call it saints row at all.

The problem is, when you build a series on over the top crazy wackiness, people expect you to up the ante every time. For Saints Row, it is becoming pretty hard to just skate by on giant purple dildos and poop spraying missions. Hence the switch to super powers, aliens, futuristic weapons, ninja clown wrestler gangs, etc etc.
If people like this then great for them. I won't complain about variety. Personally, I really enjoyed the first, kinda enjoyed the second, they completely lost me on the third, and from the looks of this, won't be playing the fourth. I really would've loved this game when I was 12, but I think I would feel like an idiot playing it now. Still really pumped about GTA V, Watch Dogs, and JC3 though!
