The first game was very atmospheric and the sequel should follow its footsteps. Here are a bunch of new images of Metro: Last Light to prove it. The game should be released in March 2013 so we'll know soon enough.
Looks very much like the first one. I hope they fixed the issues from the first one, especially the shooting mechanics. I like Metro 2033, but I'm not excited for this.

this, i wanna play it, but i'm not excited much by it. not after the first one. hopefully it's a far cry 3 situation, where it improved on everything tenfold.

I respect that ... but what I don't understand is .. if you liked 2033 .. you must be awfully excited for this
according to what I've seen so far ..the shooting mechanics and way better graphics are the improvements I myself have longed for.
and the main element , the atmosphere is the best of its kind ..ever

I liked it, didn't think it was great because the shooting was off, stealth was off, pacing was off. Graphics were great on PC and the atmosphere was really good.
I have no idea if the shooting has been fixed because there is almost no gameplay from the game where shooting is involved. And to be able to judge that, one must play it.
But I'm not excited for this game. I'm just tired of sequels. We need new IP's like Dishonored.
I've just finished playing through Metro 2033 recently and enjoyed every part of the game, the atmosphere, pacing, graphics and gameplay. Mind explaining what you found wrong with the gameplay and pacing?
Last Light looks amazing and looks to improve on everything I found wrong with the first one, taking out loading screens between underground and above ground sections, more variation in enemies, improved weapon customization and more open levels encouraging exploration. Can not wait!
The only thing I found disappointing in the first game were the character models, particularly from the neck up. They got hit hard on that aspect so I hope they learned from that lesson and hired some modelers with good facial modeling skills. If they fix that, which I don't trust these bullshots to go by, then that's all I ask for.
