Soldiers, explosions, nothing new to see. The way I see it, these big budget soldier games are no different from big budget Hollywood 'blockbusters'. Just as vacuous, just as boring, just as unoriginal.
And Activision are even charging a premium for the privilege.
No thanks. I'll wait for the likes of Heavy Rain, Alan Wake, The Last Guardian, and Final Fantasy 13. Games which I hope will match some story and artistry to their production values.

i can wait. MW2 isn't that high on my list, especially at the messed up price activision want for it in the UK. sure it's a good, hell even great game, but not this perfect genre defining gaming experience that people make it out to be. it's just a fun twitch shooter, nothing more.

people's responses here are starting to turn into posts like on gamefaqs, remember when they were actually good thoughtful comments, now it's just cool to hate on hugely popular/successful franchises and to be fair CODMW doesnt deserve the hate it recieves as it's a quality game in the fps genre, sure not genre defining but their isn't much more you can to revolutionise the fps genre. MW1's sp was short but man was it a hell of alot more exciting than other fps sp story with very nice and might i add unique ways of telling their story and taking part in it (1st person of the president comes to mind and being executed). MW2 looks to carry this on and be a quality game and really doesn't deserve the bashing you guys are giving it. I've been dissappointed with activision this year and have turned to how EA used to be but they do release a decent title every now and again, and mw2 should be alot of fun.
Sorry dude but i really like FPS genre (as long as i take good warranted breaks from it) and a masive fan of CoD2, but MW did not intrest me in the slightest only played it about 40 minutes
But i will kepp checking the trailers just incase it grabs me, because i would not like to miss out on a game that was good, and this most possibly is a damn good game, but even after that trailer (i watched it on gametrailers not on here but put my comment here none the less) i am not intrested
Its not hate, just saying cool vid n all but its still not grabbing my attention, specially as Uncharted 2 has all my love right now :D

Halo 3 was no worse off for changing little gameplay wise, nor was half life 2
Doom 3 changed slightly and suffered
Lets be honest though when a dev DOES change there perspective on a game (dont confuse that with view points...) you lot are the first to fucking moan

Why do they come into threads about the game if they don't want to play it? What's the point? That's like walking into McDonalds, going up to the counter and telling them about how much you're not going to order anything. It's retarded.
People like to troll, its the nature of the beast. Im lookin forward to MW2, it may be a by the numbers FPS churned out for the mindless masses as claimed above, but goddamnit, i like to be mindless sometimes and just enjoy the ride.
Plus the production values and overall effort put into this title raise it above the level of slurry usually churned out for the masses.
I hate when people act all high and mighty because a game is in a certain genre, it doesnt make them any more intelligent or their argument any more valid, in most cases it's the opposite. If it doesnt appeal, then fair enough, but to slate it because it is what it is....

For me the Dreamcast era was the best era in gaming history. Now we are left with derivative 'anualisable' sequels which I'm very tired of. Do people really want another corridor shooting gallery or another plastic instrument game? I guess from the sales, they do, but I certainly don't.
Please Team ICO, come and save us from these endless shooting games. Some of us still care about originality and story telling.
