Images PS3

Sony let slip a few pictures and concept art of God of War 3. They showcase Zeus in skirt, Kratos spitting fire, a hanging soccer-field and a man-goat who wants his axe back. It's pretty, but even prettier when it moves. The game will be released this christmas on Playstation 3.

Of all the mega hyped AAA exclusive franchises, I don't get why this one is so loved. The gameplay is fun, but it's a pretty short game with no multiplayer and no real replay value other than trying a harder mode. I just don't get what all the fuss is about. Is adding tons of gore in a game really make people THAT excited anymore?

Please don't think I'm hating on the game. I just don't ever see why people are so amped for this style of game. Dead Space was an amazing game last year, but you had little reason to play it more than once or twice and it was pretty short. Loved the game, but the love affair didn't last too long.

To answer your questions Nietzche....Ummm, simply put, God of War just ROCKS!!! There's really no other way to put it. Sorry you don't feel the same. I'm not much of an online gamer, so offline games with great stories appeal to me. Dead Space I actually played it 3 times.

I've always considered this to be one of the must-play games for the PS3 but the more i see of it the less that seems to ring true. Sorry but after 3 games i kind of want some fresh material, other than just added obscenities and blood :\

Replay value doesn't dictate quality. At least, it doesn't for me.

I guess people just look for different things in a game. I personally don't mind whether a game offers that much replay value or not, so long as the initial experience is awesome enough to warrant its purchase - and, if it is, chances are I'll be playing through it again anyway.

How are those better screens? They aren't even representative of gameplay. These pictures here are though.

Cutscene and gameplay are not the same thing. Oh wait, sorry forgot that we're talking about God of War here ;)

Really though, those shots are from cutscenes and they look good but you won't see that while mowing down enemies, the shots here on GSY are probably way more representative of what you'll see when actually PLAYING the game rather than doing some QTE or watching a cutscene. Thinking otherwise is just fooling yourself, we all saw the gameplay trailer. You've cut out the parts that are cutscenes (except for those two that look arguably crappier and less cinematic than the rest).

The time you get out of God of War is probably short compared to some FPS with a multi player component but then again, taking up a comparison like that is just silly.

Megido, i did NOT see any cutscene in those E3 gamplay videos, these pics that ahlan showed are finishing ups, the camera zooms for a better angle, where do you a cut scene? if you played GOW 1 and 2, you will know what im talking about.

God of war 2 took me 16hours, Gow3 will sure be a little longer. i played Heavenly sword it was 6 to 7 hours but it sure was better single player experience then any FPS games with single player.

Player loses control over Kratos, the camera swivels to very cinematic angles and we get some animation that the player has no control over. Hardly gameplay if you ask me. It's realtime but it's not player controlled and thus it's much easier to make it look way more impressive. That's all i'm saying. The game doesn't look bad i just don't think it looks jaw dropping.

HugaMuga: You obviously read my post but the actual content of it was something you missed altogether. Read it again and try to figure out where you went wrong :P

Megido, sorry dude, you don't know nothing about this game, it dose not matter if you control it or not, i have my TV in front of me and i do not notice any change of graphics when the camera change the angle.

yes and it looks jaw dropping :P the details in this game and Uncharted 2 no game on any console touched that.

God of War 3 doesn't offer anything exciting in gameplay at all. Just more of the same, nothing evolutionary. (like NG1 to NG2 combat system)

But the epic scale, story and music is still there as one of the best or the best within the genre so far.
Visually, the screens look good, but in motion it looks much better.

Oh please! If you are gonna define that as cutscene than you can give that criticism to pretty much every game out there. I guess if you chainsaw a Locust we can define that as cutscene as well. Decapitation in RE same story. Absurd.

This is a little like my view too... the Kratos/Greek and all that is becoming a bit stale, and nothing of "real gameplay" matched that fresh feel the first scripted trailer and epic feel implied and hoped to acheive.
It WILL be a good game, a good sequel, people who love the fist ones are bound to love this, but more of the same with so little of freshness in each one of the iterations its just normal people start to feel a little tired. Just like Devil May Cry 4.... people got sick of it and are eager for new things(Bayonetta).
I look forward to Dante's Inferno for that, not that its proven better, or that it doesn't look worse or wathever, it just feels a really good alternative... and a NEW one.

... i beat the first in a short ammount of time, but I would say it was the perfect button-mash quantity I expected to play (8 hours) . More, and I woul've been tired of it.
Ninja Gaiden however, that was an atypical large game for the action genera.
