hmm, this has to be one of the worst beat'em up games I've ever seen. Not only bad animation but graphics, gameplay, combos which were shown, sounds, etc are heavily outdated/badly designed :P Midway should have stick to 2D, they clearly are not good enough to do proper 3D beat'em up.

3d Mortal Combat had always had crapy animations that were outdated.

Theres not one reason but blood and gore for a purchase of any MC.
And thats pretty poor....

The gameplay looks so slow, and its broken up all the time by stupid button mashing cutscenes, i.e those 'up close attacks' and the shit 'fighting through mid-air'

Imagine a 2D Mortal Kombat game with HD sprites like the new upcoming KoF game.

Maybe one day someone will understand how to make a successful Mortal Kombat/Streetfighter game.

It looks pretty terrible to me, but then again i'm the VF kind of guy. The original MK was awesome, because i was like 9 years old when it was released, but after that i can hardly even class them as entertainment. They are the antithesis to my view of a good fighter. No amount of gore or even Batman can help that. MK sucks and midway should be ashamed.

This looks just as terrible as every mortal kombat game to date. With puzzle kombat as the exceptions, that was great fun.

OK, its obvious and poor how Namco tries to sell more games by showing off Ivy's boobs, but come on there are only 2 out of about 10 female characters who have supersized breasts.

The game looks and moves in the end, better than I tought, and the pacing when they seem to get into it, resembles the 2D Mortal Kombats, and less the slow-fest from the latest 3D ones.
It could be a very decent addition to the Universe vs. universe kind of games.

this has some of the worst animations i've seen in a fighter...truely terrible. they really need to bring the MK franchise up to date, cos as it is, its still the archaic shit fest that its always been....only now we arnt 7 years old anymore, the blood isnt enough to keep us playing...hell, this game has no blood anyway.

There are fatalities in the game, but only for the MK characters, they called it something else for the DC characters. And unlike most ppl here i actually thought the game looked fun

I didnt think this looks that bad. I didnt even think the animations were that bad...now The Force Unleashed, THAT has bad animations, they way he walks, stops, jumps...looks awful.

I thought Deadly Alliance and Deception were pretty fun actually. They looked great for their time and had tons of fun MK stuff baked in, enough to even out the score versus the rather limited-yet-functional gameplay.

Here I'm not so sure. It's an entire generation later and in a lot of ways I reckon Deception still looks classier than this. Add to that fact that the DC characters all look absolutely retarded and I doubt anyone is the slightest bit interested in playing with steroid pumped old fart Batman while Bale is kicking rediculous amounts of ass on the silver screen donning a much less stuffy garb.

Fanservice is meant to service fans, hence the rather revealing term. I have no idea what kind of DC fan doesn't feel right offended by this malarky.

Bright side; MK characters still look reasonably spiffy to me.

It's not the animation that's "wooden", it's their posture. (the way they position their bodies.) If they gave them a more natural looking posture, it would look ten times better. The animation and gameplay look fine though.

Animations are ok, at least they match up the hits. I agree with PekingDuck13 on the posture.

Gameplay looks ok. Smashing through the walls and stuff is pretty cool, but on the lava level he went off twice in one figth, and it seemed to just be the same the second time? o.O

Graphics look nice. Lighting is good in teh cemetary, the rest look a bit washed out, especially the city. Needs more contrast and shadow and vibrance.
