Mos Eisley on Unreal Engine 4

A bunch of developers from Obsidian decided it would be fun to recreate Mos Eisley using Unreal Engine 4, and the result is impressive to say the least. Despite the few hits the framerate takes even with our GTX 1080, Tatooine's most ionic town looks superb and incredibly realistic. Needless to say we were speechless when we saw how detailed the Milenium Falcon was. If this does not make you want to play a Star Wars game this gorgeoous, we don't know what will. WOW, even at 720p (best upload to date) it looks amazing, shame the robot at the end didn't have shadows. Other than that WOW.

It might be because I tried to get better fps (less stutter) with high shadows instead of epic. I'll try again and will let you know.

Apparently, this droid has no shadows, even with epic shadows on. I'm encoding another video with everything set to epic, you'll pretty much see the same things of course, but from different angles someitmes.

Also, seeing stuff like this makes me happy that i bought the Quixel suite, i just need to use it more :P

As far as visuals go, this looks very impressive. You can tell it's been a passion project.
Shame they didn't get any character artist on board, would have been cool to have aliens in the cantina.

Maybe this puts extra pressure on Viceral to create the most immersive SW game to date.

I don't know why, but this makes me sad. Only RPG I have ever lost sleep over was KOTOR. I tried getting into Mass Effect and Fallout (although both great games) but never truly felt sucked into the world like I have with Star Wars. With such a huge, enormous amount of Lore behind it, it seriously is a perfect setting to place an RPG in. There is hundreds of thousands of pages worth of Star Wars lore out there and with such a gigantic fan base out there and the last game to be successful at it came out over a decade ago? Seeing this, I don't understand how we don't at least have an open world Star Wars game by now that isn't an MMO. Probably something to do with franchise rights and the whole Lucasarts Mumbo jumbo, but hopefully this is a push in the right direction rather then a simple showcase for the unreal engine, even though it is a damn awesome display. /endrant

This makes me want to play Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2

I only played the beta of the new Battlefront, but damn if they didn't get the visuals and sound spot on. Made me pine for a single player campaign with that much care poured into it.

Agreed. Better lighting, plus the photogrammetry technique makes for an almost photo-realistic look.

This is nice, though. There's some detail that went into the Falcon.

Other than nostalgia...and a very basic art demo with "pretty" looking graphics, there isn't anything impressive here to see or have some worth to be memorable...at some points the realization that this is just a skin job sets in...

At least Frostbite engine with Star Wars Battlefront proved to meet cinematic image quality in the Endor forest scene with the bikes as proven by Digital Foundry despite the differences of film running at 24fps and the game running at 60fps.

Plus Battlefront is already an existing game that on current gen consoles looks amazing and beyond this slow motion fan demo.

Also E.A. hold the Star Wars license...hence Frostbite which has been proven to be a technology pushing 3d engine since PS3 and Xbox360 is hence forth far superior to Unreal Engine 4...no matter how pretty you make it, the real programmers at DICE will just make a REAL videogame.
