After years of failure NFS looks and plays like true NFS. Me want it

Played this recently, it was quite good actually, good handling and the races were quite intense. I played one level twice and I didn't manage to complete the level as i was wrecked and busted by the police twice. Was quite difficult.

I'm still left wondering what the career mode structure is like and if it'll have enough substance to hold my attention throughout.

Tracks do look great though. Might actually be the first "open world" racer with good track design.

Ditto, all they're showing is high speed crashes and stuff but other than that we don't know it would be any more complex than Burnout. Is there any story? Any single player structure or pure online? What cars are in there? Can we mod them? And how is the open world set? Mystery until the very end. It's definitely not a day 1 for me unless they come clean.

Sweet finally NFS goes back to its best games. I don't like racers but this one is a must get.

Matt Webster: There is a full Career full of events. You start off in the early cars and then progress up the ranks as a cop or as a racer.

As a racer, you have Time Trials, Races and Hot Pursuits, whereas as a cop you have Rapid Responses, Hot Pursuits and Interceptors. So yeah, there is a chunk of gameplay for the solo player.

Is there any story involved in the game at all? Past Need for Speed games went down this route.

Matt Webster: No. We didn’t really think it was necessary to include a story. If you’re a cop, the aim is to go up the ranks, while a racer’s aim is to get to the highest rank they can."

YES! Evo X is in there! I think the game just became interesting to me again.

I would expect some kind of single player system in the game, guess I need games to have some kind of progression but then I remembered how much fun I had with NFS 2 and 4 and it was all cool. But still, having something outside the races would be cool. Private garage, a photo mode, modding, I don't care. Bonus features would be a nice touch.

does it have split-screen? it seems quite a few racing games forget about it this gen. if it does this could well be the game i'm looking for that 'burnout paradise' wasnt. fast paced linear tracks design. non of this open world bollocks.

When did the Burnout retitled as Nfs?

Well its actually a new Burnout than a new NFS. The NFS series died with Underground 1 (cauz upgrading cars has nothing to do with the original title NFS) and most people never played the PS1 titles.

One step closer to the "original" was Most Wanted, but still no NFS. More action, less tuning/upgrading. This game here on the other side looks very promising. Still no NFS, but it looks fun and more NFS than any of the newer NFSs could. EA just uses the name NFS to sell it.

BTW, will this game have an upgrading/tuning system? They haven't lost a word about it :/

Still not sure about this. I like the fact that the guys behind burnout are handling it. But i dont like the fact that its an openworld racer - which generally arent great as a rule.

Also, EA need to make up their minds on what direction they want to take need for speed in. It seems to go in a different direction every year. I cant see how that benefits a franchise to grow in sales

didn't you see the list? I only have two titles installed at the moment, Bad Company 2 and Team Fortress 2...everything else is in the backlog or other folders. I got no time these days...I need to pass a couple of exams by December. I actually bought Mafia 2 for my birthday on August 25 and still haven't installed it so yea

LMFAO!!At least this time the tracks are closed circuits while you race so you don't have to worry about pausing and looking at the map every ten seconds. Should be well improved over Burnout Paradise.
