Awesome. I could easily mistake some of the gameplay footage from this game for real life.

The in-car views are AAA+ quality. First car game to get me excited in YEARS.

Quite nice video. But why does it still seems to be hard to make round objects? Those in-car meters at around 00:47 really doesn't look good. Those who know, does that anti-aliasing help here?

By the way it is said that Xbox 360 can produce so and so many triangles so making round objects with triangles really is not easy then...

It's all down to the poly count, whether your in an in-car view or a bumper view the game has to draw everything ie other cars, tracks, crowds and other car interiours, so can U imagine how many polys the game is pushing? Exactly...

They need to use the polys else where within the game...speed dials aren't thats important anyway!

Making round circles with traingles is easy you just need alot of traingles to make a perfect circle.

I'm wondering why Bizarre didn't use nurbs, it's much easier to produce round circles with nurbs. I think they should swtich from using softimage XSI to Maya I think the results would be better.

There's no way even for a next gen engine to handle nurbs curves in realtime...it gets a bit technical to explain why, but we'll not see realtime nurbs until hardware gets much faster

And the software package you use to model doesn't really count.

Thats funny I was using them to build the tracks in MotoGP on the xbox funny huh! And SSX was using nurbs to create such a smooth track. Although the engine switched the nurbs to polygons but the models and track where all built with nurbs. Check out rally fusion PS2 and xbox, those cars where build using nurbs too...

The scripted engine transmute objects to meshes built by triangles while rendering them, so you surely can model them in nurbs if you need (i do that too) but what you see onscreen is made up of polygons.
i was talking about visualizing nurbs in realtime onscreen.
This said, i dont consider myself the king of 3d graphics, this is what i know from my experience. This is what all the programmers i worked with told me but i'm not directly into programming.

It's all about polygon count. Typically you would never see that dial so close up and so the lack of detail there won't be very noticable. It seems like the next generation still does not have quite enough oomph to have great detail everywhere. It still looks absolutely fantastic. The real time reflections are very nice in Las Vegas at night and on the Brooklyn Bridge.

Looks amazing..though I do agree the trees are a bit off.

Then again, everything else is stunning.

Real time reflections have a HUGE impact on the overall look of the game--Same could be said of DOA4 and it's awsome self shadowing (oops).

DJmizuta, I really love the MotoGp series and I think that game is awesome to be on just the xbox. I really look forward to a nice version on the 360, they have announced it and I hope they really maximize it and keep the nice parts.

And now for the PGR3, is it just me or isn't you also tired of just driving in these small tunnels always packed with houses on both sides, or long lanes of trees. Is that just a shortage of power on the console or why could they not do one nice open track were you can see some nice beach or a farm in the distance, some open landscapes. Everything I have seen so far feels very tight, always a corner with skyscrape after skyscrape. That just don't feel realistic at all, no environment feels like that even if it may look so on picture. Then the other thing, a guy drives in one movie and ram the wall, there is no car damage at all and the car just bounces unrealistic back 90 degree's. Well that's what I see when I look at the game, it may seem like hard criticsm but this is next gen and damnit we deserve car damage, 60fps and no pop-ups.
