New Unreal Engine 3 images

New Unreal Engine 3 images

After the annoucement last week at GDC, it was time we got a bit more images of the Unreal Engine 3. These 12 screens are certainly a very good reason to approve Microsoft in choosing this engine for some of his next generation titles. They also show another engine called SpeedTree, allowing the developers to generate quite realistic looking and unique trees. Imagine playing this on your tv in a few months :)

Quake 4 engine = Doom 3 engine, so it's almost exclusively for rather small areas. UE3 can handle both highly details small areas, and less detailed very wide (kilometeres wide) areas. Think of it as a very advanced far cry engine if you want.

Imagine TFLO being resurrected on XB and the environment (not the people) having this engine. It would be awesome.

I would so love to see a resurrected TFLO. My trusty avatar comes from TFLO :)

Quick Fact: SpeedTree is being used in Oblivion. And the trees even look better in oblivion than in thoes pictures?

Damn nice.. =)

Yea. It was a very, very sad time when the news of it being cancelled broke out. Oh well.

The game was far from being done when they decided to cancel it, especially on the server side. It would have been ready much too late in the Xbox life time, especially in Japan where Xbox is basically a dead weight.

GriftGFX Then you start getting into proprietary software hell and potentially preventing other developers from writing innovative software solutions themselves. It's a WEIRD idea. (42 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX and game engine graphics pipelines or even programming interfaces for their products. None of that is their role in the whole thing.. and it shouldn't be. (43 minutes ago)

GriftGFX @Sdarts: Nvidia and AMD already do help developers with optimization more than they should have to. Nvidia and AMD should be improving the hardware and driver end of the technology and not worrying (43 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Nvidia and AMD don't even provide the API for their graphics cards. That would be the next layer between the developer and the video card. DirectX. (44 minutes ago)
