EA Sports decided for some (stupid) reason to release the Xbox 360 demo of NHL 09 long after the Playstation 3 demo, but it finally went online today. Here is a video from the it, showing a shoot-out and a bit of a match, while the Be A Pro mode also is playable. I haven't played '08 for some weeks now, but my initial impression is that game seems a little bit slower - slower skating, not so hard shots. I really like what they've done to the physics system, body contact is more realistic and the puck behaves better when it's bouncing around between players.

Whats the opinion on this one then compared to 2K's effort? Im thinking this is looking and playing a tad better, maybe.

On earth? The amount of fans in the world for football (soccer) makes ice-hokey look like smallest sport in earth, so it can't be the best ;)

I accualy find ice-hockey borring :P I've seen few games in montreal and I was really borred. Sure game is more fast paste than football (soccer) but keep in mind you have substitutes every few seconds in hockey, while in football a player has to last 90min. I find soccer much more intelligent and tactical, its like game of chess where inteligence of players is important. IQ of ice-hockey players isn't exacly high compared to many other sports lol. Ive seen enough interviews with hockey players which made me go "wtf is he talking about?".

Sure certain players fall too easy giving the game bad name, agreed, but other than that there is much more talent involved. Just watch some videos of Diego Maradona, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and many others who are great example of this most beautiful game in the world.

Saying all that, Im off to try that NHL 09 demo ;)

I like ice hokey, but seriously, wind your neck in. It's nowhere near on the same scale as football is, and nowhere near the same buzz.

I know it is much smaller than Soccer but the sport itself is much better. What is so funny with soccer? people cry like little girls and fall as soon as someone is just touching them gently. There are barely any goals in Soccer. It is like watching a tennis game on a big field, the ball goes left, the ball goes right, then it goes left again, and then right (slowly).

I like it. And bay it 100%. And I like all '09 series of sport games. Maybe I'll bay all of it just to try how they steping forward.

If you think that's all there is to football, then you're obviously clueless. Granted that there are a lot of gay acting players that roll about like women when they are touched (Drogba, Ronaldo etc etc) you try getting football studs jammed into your shin at speed and see how manly you are about it. Let me tell you, it fucking hurts. Just ask Arsenal's Eduardo. When do you ever see injuries like that in hokey? Best thing about that sport is the fights, but you have that in rugby and GAA nearly every game.

BTW : Soccer has by far most active members all around the world and is known as the sport that unites people.

Since when are Euros looked upon as anti-Icehockey? Afaik some of the best Icehockey nations are in Europe, like Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, and Russia etc..

NHL means very little to me, as we never get to see it overhere.. Only time I follow Icehockey is when the Winter Olympics are going on.. That got much more interesting aswell ever since the "pro's" finally decided to participate aswell.. That's what makes Football such a joke on the Olympics imho because the best players are not even allowed to participate..
