One more trailer for Black Flag

One more trailer for Black Flag

There have been so many trailers of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag before its release that it's hard to get excited when another one is revealed. That being said, today's video is really well done so it's hard to complain. Hopefully, we'll get news of the game's upcoming single player DLC soon, as Ubisoft hired quite an audacious artist to compose its soundtrack.

Drift, finished the game 100% yesterday and it is amazing. 10/10!!!

I'm really excited for the Freedom Cry DLC, I just fear they will release it after AC3: Liberations HD in January, probably sometime in March, which sucks.

PS. What "audacious" artist?

Like most gamers, I'm getting more and more disappointed with the gaming press, I know a lot of people reached this point some years ago, but I didn't care much about it until this year when I started to read gaming articles more and more, mainly on account of next gen consoles.

There are some really appalling and/or dumb stuff out there, like reviewers knocking out points of The Wonderful 101 just because it is "too difficult", while praising Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Super Meat Boy and Guacamelee! for being "very difficult" or giving Forza Motorsport 5 9s and 10s when its flaws outweigh its advantages.

There's even a great thread on NeoGAF about when a certain gaming "journalist/expert" lost its credibility, the amount of BS you read and hear from these so called experts today is astounding.

I'm not saying that just because people might disagree with someone of the press that said journalist/expert is wrong, but the contradiction in their views, to put in other words:

"How they change their views, morals and shift arguments to adapt to each game"

That's really wrong, you can't make dozens of articles saying how bad micro-transactions are, specially in full priced games, while giving 7 and 9 to said game(s) which fully use this type of model, yet giving a 4 to a free-to-play game which does have this type of model since free-to-play games became popular.

You get to see reviewers knocking down games nitpicking on basic things like having a basic tutorial - which almost all games have, since said game is a free-to-play game which attracts more casual gamers than hardcore gamers, yet give a pass on AAA hardcore games having basic tutorials?

It's WTF x F*ck Logic = 100% unprofessionalism.

I know that a reviewer's/critic's opinion is just that, but I really hate when they put different "personas" to review different games, if you hate something, you hate that something in whatever form it may appear, same as if you like something.

So today I'm mentally remembering the names of said people and now when I go read something, I unconsciously first see who wrote the article/review before reading.

On a side note, I see a lot of big franchises get a pass all the time while lesser known games get harshly criticized, it isn't fair, but when you get big publishers making NDAs, suing sites and creating "blacklists" to punish who speak candidly about their games and business practices until they fear being banned from their access list, that's what happens.

These pseudo journalists/experts are more concerned about their jobs - stability/security - than actually doing their jobs.

Waiting for a price drop to buy this game, looks greae, beautiful and very entertaining. I own a WiiU and a PS3, aiming for WiiU version...

Like most gamers, I'm getting more and more disappointed with the gaming press.
I certainly agree about much of gaming press( the press in general, really) seems to be on a downward slide, but I don't think the double standard you refer to is so cut-and-dry.

Games can have the same issues/features, but they may be implemented differently, or affect the game differently. It's all in how devs handle those things where they can be good, a negative, or just a non-issue...

Agreed, my point was/is that the most of the gaming press has double standards.

You can and should criticize the execution/implementation of a gameplay mechanic, feature or a concept, but criticizing the mechanic, feature or the concept itself on one game and not doing the same for another is unfair.

Those games I mentioned for being hard are great, some are even epic, yet how can someone praise them for their difficulty and knock down others for being difficult?

I know each game is different, but besides being abnormally/unreasonably difficult, if you're complaining about the difficulty setting in a game, and praising the same thing in another, that's double standard.

In this case I mentioned The Wonderful 101, because a lot of people who played it didn't find it as hard as a Dark Souls or a Guacamelee!, so if you praise them for their difficulty, how can you downgrade TW101?

But this is only a small example, if you start not only comparing scores, but making a checklist of what each reviewer praises and condones in each game and comparing each review of that same person, you will find too much inconsistencies in the reviewer's scoring methodology to feel comfortable with. That is true for most of the gaming press.

Cool song, great video. I decided to make his own version, a little brutal and hard. Enjoy)))

lol, "One More AC4BlackFlag Trailer". Nice title Driftwood.

I gotta admit, so far this is the best Assassin's Creed game I've played ever! It even beats out the Legendary Assassin's Creed II. I'm hoping it has a awesome "Those that Came Before" ending, like AC2 had. *fingers crossed*

I'm really glad that AC4-BF conquered a lot of hearts and minds, this makes more fans and the franchise stronger.

Hopefully, Ubisoft follows it with a same level of quality or even better game, fingers crossed. :D

PS. Aveline's DLC is short - 30 minutes, but so sweet, very entertaining.

With the new mission rating system, i hope they take on board what people really enhoy, and really hate, strip out the shit and make the next game even better. "Following" and "eavesdrop" missions i immediately rate 1 star. Be it in a boat or on foot, it isn't entertaining and the sooner they shit can that idea the better...thankfully there arn't too many of them.

I think it's more of why it is difficult. If it's hard because of smart AI or challenging game design, then that's a good hard. If it's hard because it's cheap, or cheating, then that's bad hard. If the reviewer isn't explaining why Hard is a bad thing, then they are doing a disservice, but there are different reasons for a game being hard that can lead it to be good or bad...

I'm glad I haven't seen (so far) any of those "complete a entire section without taking any damage" missions. God I hated those!
