Our PC videos of Trine 3 Early Access

Our PC videos of Trine 3 Early Access

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power was released on Steam as an Early Access this week, here are some videos in 1080p and 60 frames per second. Unsurprisingly with Frozenbytes, the game looks absolutely gorgeous and we can't wait to see more content.
Note: as the game is still in development, there can be some stutter in the videos.

The Early Access version offers the first two playable levels and a physics sandbox map.

Why did this game need early access? It's an established franchise. The studio doesn't need money from early access to make this game. This seems like 'let's get some money from the impatient fans before the game is finished'. That is not what early access is meant for.

Why Early Access?

“Trine 3 is our first move towards 3D-gameplay in the Trine series, so we wanted to get in touch with our player-base in an early enough phase to collect feedback on the new gameplay features, so we can tweak those into the right direction. Early Access can hopefully provide us with lots of players willing to do this.”

That's a lame excuse. If you as a dev decide to do that, then do it. If you as a dev can't figure out if it works or doesn't work as you envisioned, you should not be a dev. Having lots of different feedback, each with their own opinion, what is that going to help?
Secondly. If they really want people to be involved in an alpha test, why do you let them pay for it? Closed alpha's and beta's is the right option to do it. Letting people pay for feedback that you as a dev want, is a lame business model.

I just got the early access version to secure the launch price.
But judging from the captures above it is already pretty solid.

Do you have access to their bank records? Don't be so sure about how much anyone may or may not need. I don't work for the developer (don't even know who they are TBH), but I know that just because you finished a game doesn't mean you're wearing a money hat. A lot of devs barely scrape by.
