I love the engine of this game. Beauty!

This needs to be said: Thank you GamerSyde.

I watch pure gameplays videos of ANY game I plan to buy on Gamersyde before making my final decision and it has helped me a TON over the last couple of years.

Keep up the great work and post those PS4, XB1 and PC raw footage.

I have played it for 2 days now. I love and hate it. It's an improvement over Dead Island, but it has a couple of design flaws. The free-running is just ok. It is not close to the free-running in Mirror's Edge, but that game was completely designed around that gameplay. The biggest flaw is the weapon degradation. Almost every weapon breaks down very fast. So if you find a fun weapon, don't expect to have a long fun time with it. I don't. Know why they have chosen this gameplay mechanic as it doesn't bring tension to the game, but pure irritation.
The loot system is completely random. This is frustrating as sometimes I had to abandon missions because I had no more meds and then you have to either buy them or go search and hope the loot system is forgiving and you don't have to search a long time for just 1 part. Or because your weapons have all worn out and your chance of completing a mission is non-existing.
After more than 10 hours, the best weapon I found was a police baton.
Upgrading your weapons is a good concept if it wasn't for the complete degradation of that weapon, making the upgrades limited in short times.
And then as with all open-world games, it's filled with fetch type missions.

What I do love is the city and the freedom. The more mature tone of the game. The night gameplay changes the game completely into a more tension filled gameplay where stealth becomes important.

The game can irritate me, but I do keep returning to it. Better gameplay mechanics could have made this game into a great game.

If the Xbox Network sends us a digital copy, we will, but I have no idea when that might be.

The view distance is lower than the minimum setting on PC. Awful pop-in and LoD changes on everything.
Understandable, considering how weak the console CPUs are.

This was a big issue on Dead Island as well. I got absolutely tired after 2-3 hours and never booted that game again.

Everything You mentioned is exactly how I see this game. It is fun untill everything in Your hands is broken, You are out of meds and so on. Smashing few heads and Your weapon is wasted...how ridiculous. Other than that, it is much, much better then Dead Island.

"GPU's you mean surely?"

Nope, he means CPU and he is right - these are low performance low clocked mobile/tablet CPUs. Modern intel CPUs achieve clock of over 4GHz with higher performance per clock than AMD's CPUs, so 1.7GHz is a laughable clock by today's standards. In some respects these CPUs are slower than CPUs in last gen consoles!
http://media.redgamingtech.com/rgt-website/2014/10...

GPUs are also weak, of course, but compared to moderns PCs the CPUs are even weaker. Only 6 cores are available to devs, but they can't even fully utilize them.

From what i have read last gen we got strong GPU's and weak CPU's, This gen weak GPU's with average CPUs

If your saying the CPU's are worse in the new consoles than last gen consoles then thats just fucking insane and not something i have heard before.

The X360's CPU had 3 cores and 6 threads, in 2005. PS3's Cell was even more powerful, but incredibly complex and difficult to use.
Looks at how AMD CPUs are performing in PC games compared to Intel, and divide that by 2 or sometimes even 3. Current-gen CPUs are just awful.

Dying Light is CPU-bound. View Distance has pretty much no effect on GPU usage, it mostly affects the CPU. This explains why they had to go with 30 FPS, even though they were targeting 60 FPS before.

Xbone has 8 with 7 available to devs, PS4 8 with 6 available...How can last gen's CPU's be better?

Has to do with the performance per clock.

Draw distance however isnt solely going to affect CPU and not GPU, but what would be holding back the draw distance in this case, wouldnt be the GPU...it would be the CPU.

They really are crappy. 1.7GHz is very, very low...no matter how you program for it. Had MS gone with an intel chip, it would blow the PS4 out of the water in terms of performance in regards to the CPU, and vice versa w/ the PS4.

I really dont understand why Sony AND Microsoft decided to go with AMD. Maybe since they do CPU/GPU now that ATI is gone, but either way, the parts they could have went with from an Intel/nVidia combo would have been much, much better IMO.

1.7GHZ with Xbone slightly higher, If the 360/PS3 CPU's were better what speed were they running at?

gpu and ram are big upgrades but not the cpu. In fact PS3 cpu is still faster than PS4 is come cases which is sad http://www.redgamingtech.com/ubisoft-gdc-presentation-of-ps4-x1-gpu-cpu-performance/

Obviously they make money this time. But that seems to be the worst thing. Last gen when GT5P came it was unlike other racers going for 16cars 16fps at 1080P. Although Forza finally managed to get 16 cars online too in SP most time it has less cars on track. Others still had 8 and F1, nascar obviously more in 30fps. I think this gen looking at current games I doubt number of cars will be increased to 24 simply because of cpu
Commented on 2015-01-31 13:36:00
PCars has up to 45 cars on track for consoles depending on track. Usually it's 36 and is 1080p 60fps.

Wow that is news to me. IGN has the gameplay of latest built video where I saw total of 17. although cpu is not most important for gfx that is easily the least impressive thing on console this gen

Can you not repair weapons? They used to degrade pretty quickly in DI too...having a set number of hits that you could put points into to upgrade (not just mod), so once the hit counter got low you knew to save your weapon and repair it next time you were back as a base or whatever. Is that system nolonger there?

Also, what's the netcode like? Was terrible in DI on ps3. Easy to get in a game with mates? lag free? One thing I remember too from DI is i'm pretty sure the enemies wouldnt scale to individual skill levels? (like Destiny doesnt)...so if you joined a mates game and they're several lvls above you all the zombies would be to their lvl rather than your own. This still the case?
Commented on 2015-02-03 11:44:36
Though the video is 60fps, the game seems to be only 30 on ps4
So I guess we are too confident to say that we've achieved 60fps this gen

they actually changed that in dead island. enemies scaled...although originally they didn't. and as far as i'm aware, dying light is the same. it even shares out loot so everyone gets it. rather then it being a mad rush to steal all the good stuff.
