Our Uncharted 4 beta videos

Our first evening on the multiplayer beta of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has not been a particularly lucky one. After waiting for a pretty long time to find a game, we decided to give up for tonight and only propose a video of the short tutorial which starts the beta. it's not much for sure, but at least you get to see the jungle level shown during Paris Games Week in very high direct feed quality. Note that a second map is also available during the few days the beta lasts.
Update: We finally got to play three games, after waiting an enormous amount of time to find players. Sadly, it was too short to learn how to play properly, as proven by the two gameplay videos we've just added to the news article.

Still can't find a match, i ve played the introduction 10 times and the controls feel so good. The animations are amazing but what really impressed me is that its very responsive as well. Graphically looks better than i thought considering it runs at 60fps.

The multiplayer looks nice to me, people have been saying it looks ugly with too much color :D

The colors look a bit washed out. I haven't played the beta (I thought it came with The Last of Us for PS4. But apparently only with the Nathan Drake Collection.

Holy crap, this is such a far cry from the stellar looking singleplayer. Which was to be expected, but i had not expected it to be this big of a difference. Then again, 60fps and everything.

Doesnt look great at all.. really dont see the need for mp in games like this anyway.. i though the same with the TR reboot but thankfully they binned it off for RoTTR.

It looks alright, gameplay video #2 does feel really generic without Nathan. Other than that I thought the jungle multiplayer video looked very similar to the E3 2014 single player video.

Different resolution and performance of course but the art assets didn't change much. maybe some of the lighting, i can't tell though. I think it feels better like this in 60fps, imo. me being a pc gamer i like gaming closer to 60fps.

Looks very nice. Superb animations. Shame its not 1080p though. But at least it's 60fps... I like that they've just said "fuck it" and made something crazier too. Nothing quite like uncharted in terms of MP either so it's still a very unique feeling game.

Superb animations? Well damn...that's not what i said to myself when i saw it, especially not after playing Rise of the Tomb Raider all day. Those are some good animations.

Lara tries to do the contextual stuff like this, but she looks like she's having a seisure most of the time. Its like they're too snappy, and lack transitions. But to each their own ;)

I disagree. It'd be a sad trend if MP in games like this were binned off.

Graphically looks a lot less impressive than I was hoping for, but I've never really thought the MP in this franchise was very fun anyhow. As long as the campaign looks and plays great the game should be pretty fun.

Had to check to make sure this wasn't Uncharted remastered footage, I think Battlefront has spoiled me in terms of grfx :|

Dude you havent even played Rise of TR. Yes animations were a bit wonky in TR2013 but all is fixed in Rise of TR!

I played a bit of uncharted 2 multiplayer and found it enjoyable but not something I played more than maybe 20 hours of. This looks pretty fun, and its impressive how good it looks/run, but I'll probably just play the campaign and be done with it until I decide to replay it.

It's a multiplayer beta. Interesting that you mention RTR's animations though. crystal dynamics put a lot of effort into the idle animations of lara. she blinks, twitches her eyes and even breaths regularly.

Are we comparing singleplayer graphics to multiplayer to prove our points in here today? Neat. I'll listen to anyone that wants to complain about the shooting mechanics, because I've taken issue with past Uncharted games too in this regard, but graphics and animation? Get the hell out of here.

If you think this looks unimpressive for a multiplayer map on consoles, then I think your standards are pretty outrageous in 2015.

why do i need to play the game to have seen poor animations? i see with my eyes, not with my thumbs lol. their contextual animations just aren't as smooth as naughty dog. it's fine.

Can you direct me to a video showing this in Rise of TR? Honestly just want to see an example as I did not notice it.

any really. it's even down to her basic walk cycle. the best way to describe it is that it looks like animation loops are activating, with little to no transitions. no sense of momentum or weight to the character as she moves, very little animation or physics blending. i'm talking the stuff like what's shown in that gif of drake behind cover. he's literally doing about 5 singular animations (cover, reaction, reload, change direction, corner cover) and yet it's all blended. he even maintains the gun reload animation as he switches direction, and as he reacts to the gunfire, nothing breaks the reload animations. it simply adapts to what he's doing.

but this will largely be due to memory limitations of having to have all those animations fit into the smaller memory of the 360 because it's cross platform. but i've been saying that from the start.

i'm not saying lara's animations are some game breaker. they're just a bit janky in ways ND's aren't
