Our videos of Kinect Sports Rivals

Our videos of Kinect Sports Rivals

If we had been told we would have fun playing Kinect Sports Rivals, we probably would have had a hard time believing it, but against all odds we did. That being said, that is mainly true for two of the available sports, namely the jet ski and rock climbing events, which clearly are the most fun of the bunch. The other four are unfortunately quite disappointing because of some latency issues or the displeasing feeling that we're on auto-pilot and not in control - the shooting and bowling events being the ones we have in mind. You'll also need quite a bit of room if you want to play correctly, which is not something all gamers have at home. Fun but still highly perfectible is what will probably remain of this new episode in the Kinect Sports series.

The face and body scanning technology in this looks impressive. Was that an accurate avatar it created for whoever it was it scanned?

More or less. Ghost_Deus' avatar here looks like him but as for me, when I tried it at home, it couldn't have been more different. I mean, it kept seeing me with dark hair whereas I'm blond-haired... Facial features looked nothing like mine either. Weird.

they always look good in proper videos but when you get it home its nowhere near as good

i went on my friends and it looked nothing like me, did not pick most of my features up or anything

the game is pretty much a bore as well tbh

I love how the face scanning part makes everyone look super chubby. I'm also super impressed by how well it does with tracking the face in that part.

MrWhite that's a pretty big deal, as its probably the biggest stumbling block for the tech. (4 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Stuff like inside out tracking and eye tracking, as well as motion sickness solutions should be in place. We've already got a product in development that claims to have eradicated that already (4 Hours ago)

MrWhite The potential of it is massive. More so than what traditional gaming now is. Second gen is going to be very interesting. (4 Hours ago)

MrWhite We're sort of being spoon fed bit sized "experiences" that either work or don't. I suppose that's part of the freshness of it, though. I just wish some big devs would get more involved. (4 Hours ago)

MrWhite @KORNdog: Ironically, though, the VR scene is also playing it safe. Too safe. There's not enough big risk titles like RE7. (4 Hours ago)

GriftGFX I can't really wrap my head around being dismissive of indie games. That's a pretty broad label. (7 Hours ago)
