First 10 minutes PC Xbox 360

April is a big month for the RPG fans among you who only own a 360 since The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition will be released as soon as next week with new content. PC players will not be forgotten as the new quests and characters will be added in a free patch. Gamersyde is quite happy to be able to propose a bunch of videos of the console version in advance for you to see how good this port is. The guys at CD Projekt have done a great job and their game is without a doubt among the best-looking RPG on Microsoft's console.

It looks great. But I wonder how it plays. I thought the combat was a bit clumsy in the PC version. Especially when you fought groups of enemies.

Well, to be honest, it is still a bit clumsy at times, either because of the camera or because hit detection is not always top notch. Take the combat against the troll for example, sometimes you can see Geralt evade an attack but he still loses health (although the troll didn't apparently hit him). The same goes with the big stones he throws at you, they hit you even when you seem to have avoided them. It's a bit odd and annoying, but the combat system is still interesting. What I find has not been improved enough is the stealth controls in the very beginning. The part when you try to escape from prison is really awkward.

LOL yeah, agreed.
You roll out of attack, hit isnt even close to your character and you still get hit. And hit feedback is sometimes not even there.
Combat is decent at best, though Geralt does alot of useless ballerina spins for a simple attack though, looks silly. Trying to be "chinese martia arts" style but fails lol.

I agree with the stealth as well, very clunky, why they put that crap in there is beyond me. Should have made a quick cutscene with dialogues instead. If you cant do it properly, dont do it at all because it will come out clunky, bad and odd and in the end, annoying.

Well, are you expecting never to be hit while evading? After getting used to getting hit while evading, I never really ahd that problem. I did have an issue with hitting enemies which requires that you have the little targeting thing shoing up, whch sometimes just disappeared. I had hoped that this version would remove that and just make it work like fable where your sword will hit whatever it swings through.

Everything in this game is perfect....everything but gameplay. Clumsy Gee doesnt move like a witcher I know from the books but rather like retarded nerd during fiesta in Rio. He really wants to impress but just cant do. Story, characters, cutscenes and everything else is beautiful and feels very adult-oriented which is awesome. But those fights and animation are so off that I really have to force myself to play. Very mixed bag of feelings for me.

@ Sath - go read the books, Gee is dancing during sword fights.

i'll bet its the best rpg of the year, too bad its exclusive on console realm and other rpgs are just loli rape waifu crap jrpgs on ps3 and the best ones came out on wii. Hope 2012 to be more packed.

I'll have to buy it on steam at some point to support cdprojekt.

I'm not much of a fan of JRPG's, are those JRPG's? That's not to say any RPG from Japan, just the actual genre. I think Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma both look pretty sweet.

Are you serious an 11GB patch or did you mean 1.1GB patch?

Anyways glad to see this game finally shipped on X360... if CD Projekt is not working on a PS3 version then I say they better start making Witcher 1 pretty soon, I really hate how PC game devs keep putting games sequels on consoles without ever bothering to port or re-program enhance the previous or part 1 game on a disc... too many PC devs to name but I will say Crytek since they took out a level and made it DLG only... sigh

eh, better a good effort (I see Crysis on consoles with cryengine3 as the same effort CDProkect did with enhance the game for the 360 release) with a good pricepoint in digital form, than shating mediocre resolution up in disk like the last "HD" Classics as Jak&Daxter, Silent Hill, MGS ... some aren't even HD.
