Project CARS PC ultra videos

Project CARS PC ultra videos

Since Project CARS has been delayed and we haven't shown the game in action for a while, here's a chance to catch up on the development. We decided to make a good use of our new capture PC to get you some Ultra settings gameplay (SMAA High) running at 1080p/60fps. Because we know it well enough, we went for the iconic Nürburgring in the rain with a Bac Mono, and believe us it was no piece of cake with all assists off. More on the game in the weeks to come, so stay tuned.
Note: The hands of the pilot sometimes shake because of the brutal reactions of force feedback of our Fanatec wheel, whose rotation was set to 350° instead of 900°. Our mistake.

Miguel/Driftwood (?) If you have problems with the to heavy FFB, lower the TFF (bottom right controller screen) to something around 20/30 (depending on the car). The default value, since the menu change, is set way to high ;)

And track/weather looks really nice, evrything has come a long way & I hope to upgrade my machine soon to run the game at those settings and see it not only in someone else his/her video.

I will, just captured the videos during my lunch break so I didn't have time to look in the menu. :)

Need to sort that steering wobble out, looks stupid!!

That's what my wheel was doing so maybe that's because of it, not the game.

The lighting and weather are great. I like the way the rain comes from a single direction and isn't ubiquitous like it is in most games. The thing I don't like, however, is the rain on the camera effect. It just looks messy and out of place. It would make much more sense to have that there if you were looking through a visor from a topless car or something. To me it's just an unnecessary visual effect that distracts rather than adds to immersion. We get it: it's raining. No need to fog up our camera view with blobs.

My problem is that it's an inaccurate effect. That's not what that would look like. In my opinion the water drop effect is way off and they have some work to do with wet road reflections popping in late. Other than that though this is probably the best looking representation of the nurburgring that I've seen. It looks very dense, as the track looks in real life.

Driftwood what would you compare the physics to. Or use Iracing as full sim and Forza as "simcade.

I don't know iracing and I can only play Forza 5 with a controller now so comparing is hard. Also, handling can feel great with a car in PCARS and then completely horrible with another. :/

You're right, it is. Doesn't look natural.

Was going to ask if it could, but forgot to. Good that you can, but a bit of a useless inclusion to start with.

It can be cool if done correctly. Look to F1 2014 for a much more accurate example of that effect on a lens.

Looks great, but what cpu/gpu are you running to achieve 1080/60?
Tanx!

About the game

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I mean they can keep upgrading it but why bother when they have more capable engines already. (4 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I just think it shows its age in a lot of ways in FC5 and they have better tech so they should use it. (4 Hours ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth if they still pay royalties to crytech when using it they probably should (4 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Although I think it's kinda time to retire Dunia. (4 Hours ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @HR2: a lot of studios used modified UE3, games like Arkham Knight, XCom2, both being very problematic on pc. Interesting to see what those studios will do for their next games. (4 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @HR2: Ubisoft uses their own engines. They have like.. three solid in house game engines. (4 Hours ago)
  • HR2
HR2 @Melmoth: agreed. speaking of Ubisoft, I wonder which engine they're using for the next Splinter Cell. a heavily modified UE3 like Batman AK or UE4? (4 Hours ago)
