Q&A of Ace Combat 6

Q&A of Ace Combat 6

Namco Bandai's Ace Combat 6 was released in Europe yesterday, and today we have a great interview with the game's producer, Hiroyuki Ichiyanagi. Thanks to the XCN, you can read all about the decision of developing for the Xbox 360, the realistic environments, DLC, online co-op and much much more inside.

I have not played with the flight stick, but damn that game is great.

I loved Ace Combat 3, Ace combat PSP, and now AC6. I missed quite a bunch of games, but what i played was consistently excellent gameplay-wise.

This is not a game for the weak, and i have spend a good 2 hours trying to beat mission 9 without success, killed by missile showers or struck by instant-death *gasp* i just plain s**k at these games but i still love 'em (this is a shame since i can pilot a commercial airliner).

Too bad. I'm really interested in this game, but I don't like games that are too hard. I'm no casual player, but I play games to come down and relax after work, which is nigh impossible with such a game.

Honestly, that interview is kind of all over the place. The wording from both, the questions and answers can be really bad in certain questions, and I think all technical questions should be put in one place, then all gameplay, and then all miscellaneous, not jumping all over the place.

"Is it hard to control plane while using Flight Stick?" (Borat?)

And although it has nothing to do with what I'm saying, what up with the question implying this game is a flight sim? lol.

Regardless, some good info there, but I still don't like the game and I think their improvements on the basic (and boring as hell) formula are a joke. "players can now aim slightly ahead in line of the predicted path the enemy aircraft is likely to take and still get a lock on."

Wow, I think I did that in 96. Su-27 Flanker.

I don't know about Namco's exclusives anymore. They release a 360 exclusive RR, then a PS3 exclusive RR, then they release Eternal Sonata for 360 exclusively, but PS3 gets the better version next year, and now this. You should've asked them about the future of the series.

Yea, I'm more so curious about the future hits of Ace combat. This game seems to be pretty good and I liked the demo, though too much wasn't going on. Was considering picking it up for some time since I recently got done beating Project Sylph. I don't think the Ace series is really gonna be an exclusive for too long, but it'll be pretty funny if it does find a new home on the 360.

Easily one of the best looking games across both platforms, and not just its genre.

Namco and Capcom have both done the right strategic choice financially in supporting the 360.

now that it`s out, can anyone tell me if this game has a "free flying mode"? you know,
just FLYING around the scenery "sightseeing" without any tasks you have to master? would be nice ^_^ i believe the old classics had this (interceptor on amiga for example)

thnx

Yes.

Ther is an option where you can fly around any of the missions without being shot at.

About the game

What's up?
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @Tiz: I only played the Campaign in the Gears games, so can't say anything about Multiplayer. But Campaign wise, I stand by my previous comments. (1 Hour ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz Judgement wasn't all bad though. Overrun is better than Horde and I wished if there was one thing the Coalition kept from Judgement, it was that. Instead of treating it like a horrid bastard child. (2 Hours ago)
  • Tiz
Tiz @Sdarts: Judgement changed too much. Stim grenades that gave you double life in gun fights wat? Ink downed you in a second? Verticality in Gears maps? Jumping off rooftops? (2 Hours ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @Tiz: Gears of War: Judgement was a refinement of the Gears 3 formula, and was a great game in its own right. (4 Hours ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @Phaethon360: I completely disagree with you. Gears 2 was shit, while Gears 3 was an excellent game. (4 Hours ago)

GriftGFX I still think the iOS UX is inferior to both stock android and several android launchers. (5 Hours ago)

crookedmind @KORNdog: I can understand the player count difference. But, frame rate? (5 Hours ago)
