Big open world, vivid explosions, vehicle combat, more explosions and a first look at the massive and crazy convoys. That is the programme from the QuakeCon gameplay demo of RAGE 2. Jump inside to watch or download it in high quality.
I would never have thought a sequel to the steaming pile of shit that is RAGE would have ever looked good. but I'm more interested in this then I am the new doom. Bring it on. Looks excellent.
It's definitely alot like borderlands in other aspects. The gameplay mechanics of some of the BL2 characters where methodical but frantic ways of killing to rack up temporary combat bonuses is key, for example, looks similar to what they describe in this video. And that guy who is talking weapon advertising in russian accent... it couldn't be more obvious.

i actually think the first RAGE flopped so hard because it came out so soon after the first borderlands, which was doing the wacky looking mad max thing with car combat and wide/linear level design already. yes it was geared towards co-op, but even solo the experience was so similar. the difference being RAGE didn't have the hook of randomly generated loot. (or an actual ending)
this time i feel like RAGE has a chance to succeed, namely because borderlands 3 isn't around to piss on it's bonfire...yet anyway. i'd laugh if it was somehow announced and released prior to RAGE 2 launch though.

I see the similarities, but there are some fundamental differences that still make me want Borderlands 3. Borderlands is designed like a sort of FPS Diablo game. I'm not really getting that feeling from this. I am disappointed in the lack of co-op. It just looks like it would be a lot of fun to play with friends.
