To celebrate the Cinco de Mayo this week, Rockstar Games presents a new Red Dead Redemption video entitled Revolution, highlighting the rebel Mexican uprising that John Marston finds himself caught up in during his journey to Nuevo Paraiso.
These guys don't just make games, they make games worthy of movies. Rockstar are extremely talented and are bridging the gap of games and film. This looks like a game that will be hard for other developers to follow. It's going to be hard to ration the hours of entertainment that I will have playing this game. I probably won't be able to put the game down only to shower and eat during breaks for several days until I beat it. I think I'll give myself a week off from work. Yeah, it's like that for me.
I've been waiting for this game since before they started making it! This is a Western! Not just the story of a Western, but the experience of a Western. 11 more days...
Very high expectations here. But I had those for GTAIV as well, but I never finished the game because it became boring very fast imo. Then again, I love westerns (don't understand why there aren't more western shooters), so that will help a lot. I truely hope this game will deliver.
Just look at it this way- no cell phones! I don't think Marston is too concerned with upkeep of friendships. That was the only issue I had with GTIV...

I have Once Upon A Time In The West and Tombstone ready for watching next week :)
Looks like a lot of people are watching those classic westerns to get in the mood for the game
I just bought Deadwood the complete series. Supposedly a great HBO Western series...

Maybe you have to take the horse out bowling or hoof throwing

You know, that is exactly how I felt going into GTA IV . . . and BioShock . . . and Uncharted 2 . . . and Splinter Cell: Conviction . . . and Fallout 3. And all of those games lived up the my expectation.
At first, I was not all too excited about Red Dead Redemption. But the last couple of months worth of media have forced me to do a 180. This game looks amazing, and May 18th cannot come soon enough. If it is anything as awe inspiring as any of the games I've listed above, then you are so right when you state that devs are going to have a very hard time following this act.
