This is an FPS game not a racing game.. the physics are normal for these games. (howver, the Junker in GoW drove so sweet!!)

I wanna know how long they worked on this game.

people mention how difficult it is to work for the ps3, did it take insomniac a long time to develop and make this game? It is one beautiful game and for amongst the first batch of games for the ps3, it's pretty damn amazing.. And i take it, they haven't actually got down to really rip the ps3 and harness its true powers

the car physics are horrible. even halo1 had far better car physics. id even go as far as to say pac-man has better car physics.

the game looks alot like an alienized COD2, and not much else...nothing special just a decent game that gets far too much credit while achieving nothing new in the genre.

exactly, the camera is a bit too far down the sight of the gun, the sound effects are horrid..., and the AI is just plain bad, they stand still and wait for you to come to them, or they run around looking confused. no flanking, no use of cover, not even basic teamwork.

The car physics may be off, but the rert of the physics is top notch from what I have seen.

Yeah, it's not a killer app, eventhough pretty much all gaming sites have given it great reviews. They're obviously all just PS3 fanboys...

The driving isn't the games strong side, obviously. Are the vehicles even available for online play? I'm guessing that they're not a huge part of the game, so Imsomniac didn't really polish them to perfection.

the fighting bears more homage to halo than anyone in the sony camp are glad to admit. Throw in the vehicle driving (which seemingly also works like the ones in halo) and you have a total rip off. Not a bad thing in it self, but this game seems to have little to no humor and thus feels very sterile compared to the classic.

all that said, resistance is by far the game i want to play the most out of the few games on the console.

I actually didn't mind the driving. It controls very similarly to the warthog in halo 2. And the tank drives almost exactly the same as the one in halo. As for the AI it's not the greastest ai out there, but it's not the worst either. They usually only charge at you if they are in large groups, other then that they stay back and shoot at you from a distance. Also, that video is being played on easy, far as i can tell. He kills alot of the hybrids one shot to the knees from across the room with the rossmore (shotgun). Another sign is the fact that he charged into the building and never took cover or stopped for anything, and only lost like one block of health. I tried that once and was dead before i made it to the top of the ramp, and several times i tried it slowly and still got killed by the guys with augers, which there appeared to be less of then i remember in that video. (Auger being a weapon that allows you to shoot through solid objects, so cover doesnt help any. It's also very powerful.) When i did it there were three of them in each of those building, whereas he only killed one during that video. One more thing, that vehicle is only used for that one mission throughout the entire game. It is a very small part of the game, so i wouldent judge the entire game based on one level.

Anyone have any comments on the online multiplayer side of this game?

About the current games on the ps3: Hey.. of course they don't look like what you would expect from the ps3.. give it a year, the games on the ps3 will look soooo damn good, especially the japanese games! Can't wait!! :D

Gears of War is the only game of its kind, there are ZERO games like it. Sure, there are other third person shooters out there, but none with such a deep cover system, and none with such great gameplay, and none with such amazing graphics, and wait...none that compare at all. It isnt a perfect game, but its damn good.

Resistance feels like a clone of COD2, but with aliens and unrealistic weapons...in other words, it feels just like every other standard FPS out there.

Well what does Resistance offer thats new to the FPS genre? Nothing, its just a standard 1st person shooter. Doesn't mean its bad, but for people to call it a killer app, I think its getting way to my praise than it generally should be.
