Ridge Racer 7 scans

Ridge Racer 7 scans

Namco surprised a lot of people (me at least) by annoucing that Ridge Racer 7 was already in development on PS3, and will be unveiled completely during E3. The announcement was as always in the latest famitsu, and you'll find the scans in the news.

Not surprised and the in game shots are to dark to see.

Thats...unbelievable!
I really liked RR6, but it propably wasnt the Super-nextGen Ridge Racer we Fans hoped for. If this one blasts RR6...oh, Microsoft will be unhappy.
However, cant wait for it

The white car is a render, just like those early shots of the red car on the 360 version. The in-game graphics just looks like it has a different lighting system than the 360 version. Environments look relatively the same in terms of texture and detail.

It looks pretty good, I'm surprised Namco is just unveiling it. I already figured they would have an RR launch title ready, since they always do...

It looks better than the cars in those games. In PGR3 and TDU, you can see the polygons and edges where the devs could improve upon. The white RR7 car looks perfectly rounded where the curves are located. Namco has always done this in providing rendered and in-game cars.

Here are comparisons in RR6

The lighting in the ps3 version makes a big difference. I thought the lighting sucked in the 360 version.

Its hard to tell anything from those scans, but im happy to hear the series will continue on the ps3.

Holy SH**! that white car is an actual ingame shot?! I thought it was just a pre rendered image to just give the viewer the impression and feel of "RIDGE RACER is COMING!"

Ridge racer series always were one of the launch titles for sony's consoles.. expect this to be one of ps3's launch title

I wouldn't be so quick to judge, especially on that white car screenie.
Looks like it's straight out of 3DS Max (or whatever modeling program).

On the other hand I wouldn't be surprised to see this game looking significantly better than RR6, given the development time.

Either way, the RR series is the RR series, good graphics or not.

The shots are in a directory called "concept" on the Namco site.

It definitely looks like an upgrad from RR6 to me.

About the game

What's up?
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @AndreasZ94: for consoles 3d gaming (with a few exceptions) started with the 32bit era. for people playing on computers they's been a steady stream of 3d games from back to the early 80's (6 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Yea.. NPCs in single player games should send you hate mail, like real people ;) (6 Hours ago)
  • AndreasZ94
AndreasZ94 @MrWhite: I feel like its the enemy reactions to getting shot that's the real problem, they recover so fast and act like they never got shot (8 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite @AndreasZ94: I've only played a bit of U4, but from what I did, it wasn't a big step up from 3. (9 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Ellie helping you out in melee situations was fun too. It's their only game where they made some good gameplay design elements when it came to enemies. (9 Hours ago)
  • AndreasZ94
AndreasZ94 @MrWhite: Are u talking about U4 because i feel like the gunplay was pretty good, same for U2 (9 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite @AndreasZ94: Certainly their best game of combining both, hence why I think its their best. They got the pacing right, but it also had a extra element in horror. (9 Hours ago)
